The 2022 Elvis biopic on 4K and Blu-ray in September

The 2022 biography “Elvis” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on September 13th via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.  The film, directed, co-written, and produced by Baz Luhrmann, starred Austin Butler, Tom Hanks, Helen Thomson, Olivia DeJonge, Richard Roxburgh, David Wenham, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Luke Bracey.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range as well as Dolby Atmos sound.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound.  Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting its Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray getting its DVD counterpart, and each including a digital copy compatible with Movies Anywhere.

1987 film The Lost Boys comes to 4K in September

The 1987 film “The Lost Boys” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 20th via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, according to retailers.  The film, celebrating its 35th anniversary, directed by Joel Schumacher, starred Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, Alex Winter, Kiefer Sutherland, Brooke McCarter, Billy Wirth, Jami Gertz, Jamison Newlander, Dianne Wiest, Barnard Hughes, and Edward Herrmann.

Tech specs for the release appear to include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound.  The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film.

UPDATE:  You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon.  You also can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray listed for preorder over at retailer Best Buy.  It’s certainly worth noting that Best Buy will be also getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below) which is also now available for preorder.

The 1982 film “Poltergeist“ is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 20th via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.  The film, directed by Tobe Hooper and co-written & produced by Steven Spielberg, starred Craig T. Nelson, JoBeth Williams, Dominique Dunne, Oliver Robins, Heather O’Rourke, Beatrice Straight, Martin Casella, Richard Lawson, and Zelda Rubinstein.

Tech specs for the release appear to include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0 Stereo lossless surround sound mixes.  The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film.

The 2022 film “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on June 28th via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.  The film, which is part of the “Wizarding World” franchise created and written by J.K. The 2014 science fiction film “Edge of Tomorrow“ is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on July 5th via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.  The film, directed by Doug Liman, co-written by Christopher McQuarrie, and based on the novel “All You Need is Kill” by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, starred Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Brendan Gleeson, and the late Bill Paxton.

1956 George Stevens western Giant on 4K in June

The 1956 Academy Award-winning western “Giant“ directed & produced by George Stevens is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on June 21st via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, according to retailers.  The film, which won the Academy Award for “Best Director,” starred Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson, James Dean, Carroll Baker, Jane Withers, Chill Wills, Mercedes McCambridge, and Dennis Hopper.

The tech specs and bonus materials for the release have yet to be announced but stay tuned for an update on that.  It is known, via the artwork (pictured above), that this release will only include the 4K disc and digital code (copy) of the film.  No Blu-ray will be included.  You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon.

The film itself has received a new 4K restoration in a partnership between TCM (Turner Classic Movies) and Martin Scorsese‘s The Film Foundation.  You can read all about that over at Media Play News where they have a great article on this.  This 4K version is also said to be coming to HBO Max streaming later this year.
