1992 film Candyman gets Collector’s Edition 4K in May

The 1992 film Candyman will officially be getting a 4K UHD Blu-ray “Collector’s Edition” release on May 24th via Scream Factory in the US (United States).  The film, directed by Bernard Rose, starred Virginia Madsen, Tony Todd, Vanessa Williams, Xander Berkeley, Kasi Lemmons, DeJuan Guy, and Ted Raimi.

UPDATES:  The tech specs here include a 2160p video presentation from a new 4K master, as noted below, in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range.  It will also feature a new Dolby Atmos sound mix.  You can find details about that quoted, from ShoutFactory.com, below.

It is known (via the artwork, pictured above) that this release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.  You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray Collector’s Edition listed over at Amazon but it currently is unavailable.  However, it will be back soon, I assure you.

The 4K disc will include both the theatrical and UNRATED cuts of the film.  The full contents of this 3-disc set are listed below along with the bonus materials set to be included.

2021 film Candyman on 4K and Blu-ray November

The 2021 sequel “Candyman” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on November 16th, via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. The film, co-written and produced by Jordan Peele & directed by Nia DaCosta, stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Teyonah Parris, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Colman Domingo, and Vanessa Williams. It’s most certainly worth noting, at the time of writing, that this film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-66 disc. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect and Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-50 disc. Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that the 4K will include its Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray will include its DVD counterpart, and each will come with a digital code (copy) of the film compatible with Movies Anywhere. DC Universe movie Batman: Hush on 4K and Blu-ray

The DC Universe animated movie “Batman: Hush” is officially coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on August 13th via Warner. The animated film, based on the graphic novel (of the same title) written by Jeph Loeb, was directed by Justin Copeland and it features a voice cast of Jason O’Mara, Peyton List, Peyton List, Rebecca Romijn, Jennifer Morrison, Rainn Wilson, Jerry O’Connell, Tara Strong, Vanessa Williams, and Jason Spisak. Tech specs for the release have not been fully detailed but it has been obviously mentioned (in the press release) that the 4K will include HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range. Both films should receive 5.1 lossless mixes, likely in the DTS-HD Master Audio format, although that has not yet been confirmed. The 4K UHD Blu-ray and the Blu-ray are both now available for pre-order over at Amazon. The release will both come in the form of “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray included, the Blu-ray getting a DVD included, and both getting a digital copy of the film. “Candyman” with Tony Todd gets Collector’s Edition Blu-ray in November

The 1992 horror film Candyman starring Tony Todd is getting a “Collector’s Edition” Blu-ray Disc release on November 20th via Scream Factory. The film, directed by Bernard Rose, also included a cast of Virginia MadsenXander BerkeleyVanessa WilliamsKasi LemmonsDeJuan GuyMarianna Elliott, and Ted Raimi. Tech specs for the release 1080p video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound. The video here is a new 2K restoration taken from a 4K scan of the film elements. Both the Theatrical Cut and an Unrated Cut of the film will be included, all spanning across a 2-disc set. This release is available now for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon.
