Night of the Living Dead 1990 on 4K in September

The 1990 remake of Night of the Living Deadis officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on September 23rd via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Tom Savini directed the film, which George A. Romero produced. It starred Tony Todd and Patricia Tallman. The movie is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year.

The 4K release includes both the new UNRATED “Uncensored Cut” and the theatrical release. Both versions will be presented in 2160p video in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 form of high dynamic range. The sound will be presented in Dolby Atmos, lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround, and 2.0 surround (for theatrical cut only). Final Destination Bloodlines 4K and Blu-ray in July

The 2025 film “Final Destination: Bloodlines” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray on July 22nd via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky directed the movie. It starred Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, and Richard Harmon. The cast also includes Owen Patrick Joyner, Anna Lore, and Rya Kihlstedt. Brec Bassinger and Tony Todd complete the ensemble.

The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of HDR and Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos. A digital copy (compatible with Movies Anywhere) is included with each of the 4K and Blu-ray releases.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray are now available for preorder at Amazon. You can also find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray available for preorder at retailer Walmart.

1994 film The Crow arrives on 4K Blu-ray this May

The 1994 Alex Proyas film “The Crow” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on May 7th via Paramount, according to the retail sources. There will be the choice of either a standard 4K UHD Blu-ray (pictured above) or a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteeelBook (pictured below) available. You can now find both available for preorder over at Amazon. The film starred the late Brandon Lee and co-starred Rochelle Davis, Ernie Hudson, Sofia Shinas, Michael Wincott, Bai Ling, Anna Thomson, David Patrick Kelly, Angel David, Laurence Mason, and Tony Todd.

Oliver Stone film Platoon arrives on 4K September

The 1986 Academy Award winner (for “Best Picture”) Platoon is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 13th via Shout Select (Shout! Factory).  The film, winner of four Academy Awards, was written & directed by Oliver Stone, and it starred Charlie Sheen, Willem Dafoe, Tom Berenger, Tony Todd, James Terry McIlvain, Keith David, Forest Whitaker, Francesco Quinn, Kevin Dillon, John C. McGinley, and Johnny Depp.

Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray have yet to be fully detailed but should include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and presumably HDR10 (at least) in terms of high dynamic range as well as perhaps Dolby Atmos sound and/or the original DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless mix — as found on the original 2011 Blu-ray release.  The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will include a new Blu-ray counterpart.

1992 film Candyman gets Collector’s Edition 4K in May

The 1992 film Candyman will officially be getting a 4K UHD Blu-ray “Collector’s Edition” release on May 24th via Scream Factory in the US (United States).  The film, directed by Bernard Rose, starred Virginia Madsen, Tony Todd, Vanessa Williams, Xander Berkeley, Kasi Lemmons, DeJuan Guy, and Ted Raimi.

UPDATES:  The tech specs here include a 2160p video presentation from a new 4K master, as noted below, in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range.  It will also feature a new Dolby Atmos sound mix.  You can find details about that quoted, from ShoutFactory.com, below.

The 2018 Gregory Plotkin directed horror film “Hell Fest” is coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on January 8th, 2019 via Lionsgate. The film’s cast includes Amy Forsyth, Reign Edwards, Bex Taylor-Klaus, Christian James, and Tony Todd. Tech specs for the 4K release include 2160p video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with both HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range and DTS:X sound.
