The 2015 film Fury gets 4K SteelBook in July

The 2015 film “Fury” will get a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook release on July 15th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. David Ayer wrote and directed the movie. It starred Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Peña, Jon Bernthal, Jason Isaacs, and Scott Eastwood. It’s certainly worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” by critics on Rotten Tomatoes. NOTE: This film was previously released on 4K UHD Blu-ray back in 2018. This version features Dolby Vision, whereas that version only had HDR10.

The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.40:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision or HDR10 form of high dynamic range. It will include Dolby Atmos sound and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround. The 4K release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

The 2005 film Constantine comes to 4K in February

The 2005 film “Constantine” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on February 18th via Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment. The film, based on the comic book “Hellblazer,” was directed by Francis Lawrence. The cast included Keanu Reeves, Rachel Weisz, Shia LaBeouf, Djimon Hounsou, Tilda Swinton, and Peter Stormare. The movie will be celebrating its 20th anniversary next year (2025). This release will include the theatrical cut and the uncut versions of the film.

Here’s some interesting information on the restoration.

“The 4K restoration of Constantine was completed at Warner Bros. Discovery’s Motion Picture Imaging (MPI) and was sourced from the original camera negative.  The restoration was overseen by director Francis Lawrence.”

The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. The release will include a digital copy of the film, compatible with Movies Anywhere.

Indiana Jones 4-Movie Collection officially comes to 4K in June

The “Indiana Jones 4-Movie Collection” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on June 8th via Paramount Home Entertainment. The set (collection) includes the four films, all directed by Steven Spielberg, executive produced and based on a story by George Lucas, and starring Harrison Ford. The films, which have all been remastered, included in this set are as follows:

  • “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark” (1981)
  • “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” (1984)
  • “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” (1989)
  • “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” (2008)

The four movies have all been remastered from 4K scans and director Steven Spielberg has approved. Below you’ll find a bit of info regarding the work that has gone into this release, quoted from the press release just issued.

“Now, for the first time ever, all four films are available together in 4K Ultra HD with Dolby Vision® and HDR-10 for ultra-vivid picture quality and state-of-the-art Dolby Atmos® audio*.  Each film has been meticulously remastered from 4K scans of the original negatives with extensive visual effects work done to ensure the most pristine and highest quality image.  All picture work was approved by director Steven Spielberg.

In addition, all four films were remixed at Skywalker Sound under the supervision of legendary sound designer Ben Burtt to create the Dolby Atmos® soundtracks.  All original sound elements were used to achieve the fully immersive Dolby Atmos® mixes while staying true to each film’s original creative intent.”

The tech specs for the films (as mentioned above) include a 2160p presentation for each film with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. This release will come as a 5-disc set and does NOT include the Blu-ray Disc counterparts of the films, just the 4K UHD Blu-ray discs and a digital copy of each film.

UPDATE #3: You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray 4-Movie Collection now available for preorder over at Amazon. Also, it is worth noting that you can find it already listed over at retailer Target.

In the latter photo, you’ll see each SteelBook that each film will be housed in. That 4K SteelBook set will be an exclusive over at retailer Best Buy and is now available for preorder there.

The Peanut Butter Falcon on Blu-ray November

The 2019 critically-acclaimed film The Peanut Butter Falcon is coming to Blu-ray Disc on November 12th via Lionsgate. The film, written & directed by Tyler Nilson and Michael Schwartz, stars Shia LaBeoufDakota Johnson, John HawkesThomas Haden Church, Bruce Dern, Jon Bernthal, and Zack Gottsagen. As mentioned, critics really liked this film and at the time of writing it carries a “Certified Fresh” rating over at Rotten Tomatoes. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include 1080p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 sound. The release will come with a digital code (copy) of the film. UPDATE: This film on Blu-ray is now available for preorder over at Amazon.

“Transformers: Ultimate 5-Movie Collection” on 4K UHD Blu-ray November

In an early alert to retailers we get word that Paramount plans to release Transformers: The Ultimate 5-Movie Collection to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 6th. All five of these films are already available on the 4K format, but are being finally bundled together, a considerable bit more affordable than buying the films individually. Tech specs will be identical to the previous (individual releases) including 4K video with both Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of High Dynamic Range as well as Dolby Atmos sound. No mention of new bonus materials set to be included on the release. In fact, bonus materials will be primarily (aside from commentary tracks) included on the original Blu-ray Disc releases, which will be included in this 10-disc “combo pack” set. A digital copy of each of the five films will be included. This set is available for PRE-ORDER now over at Amazon.
