The 1977 film A Bridge Too Far comes to 4K in March

The motion picture has undergone a 4K scan from the original 35mm camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) and lossless sound, on a BD-100 disc. The audio format(s) and configuration(s) haven’t been officially announced, but stay tuned for an update. The release will be a 2-disc “combo pack” that includes its Blu-ray Disc counterpart.

1992 film Sneakers on 4K and Blu-ray in April

The 1992 film “Sneakers” comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Special Edition on April 22nd via KL Studio Classics. The film was directed and co-written by Phil Alden Robinson. It starred Robert RedfordSidney PoitierDan Aykroyd, and the late River Phoenix. It also featured Ben KingsleyPhil Alden Robinson, and Mary McDonnell. Additionally, David Stathairn and James Earl Jones were in the cast. It’s certainly worth noting that this film is still “Certified Fresh” (by critics) on Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie has received a new master, from a 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound, on a BD-100 disc. Robert Redford film Ordinary People on Blu-ray March

The 1980 Academy Award-winning film Ordinary People will be coming to Blu-ray Disc as part of the Paramount Presents line on March 29th, via Paramount Home Entertainment. This release will be spine number 30 in the Paramount Presentes line of Blu-ray titles. The film, directed by Robert Redford, starred Donald Sutherland, Mary Tyler Moore, Timothy Hutton, Judd Hirsch, and M. Emmet Walsh. This movie won 4 “Oscars” (Academy Awards), including “Best Picture“, and was nominated for 6 Oscars total.

The movie has been “remastered from a new 4K film transfer overseen by Redford” according to a statement from the studio.  The tech specs for the release have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for a later update.  UPDATED: You can now find the Paramount Presents Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon.

The release will come with the typical fold-out original poster art on the slipcover as well as tasteful photos from the film also included throughout the package design (pictured below).

The bonus materials feature “new interviews with Hutton and Judith Guest, author of the novel upon which the movie was based.” Those extras set to be included with the release are listed below.

The 1973 film “The Sting” will be officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on May 18th via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. The film, directed by George Roy Hill, starred Paul NewmanRobert RedfordRobert Shaw, Charles Durning, Ray Walston, Eileen Brennan, and Harold Gould. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound on a BD-100 disc. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it’ll include its Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film. You can now find the standard 4K UHD Blu-ray release available for preorder over at Amazon.

It’s most certainly worth noting that, it appears, an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook release of the film will be available over at retailer Best Buy (pictured below) on the same date. Speaking of which, you can now find that 4K SteelBook of the film listed as coming soon over at Best Buy but not yet as a functional preorder. I would expect that should be changing very soon, so stay tuned to its listing, if you’re looking to preorder the SteelBook.

The bonus materials set to be included with both versions of this film on 4K UHD Blu-ray will be using the archival extras from the previous Blu-ray release, on both the 4K and Blu-ray Discs. Those extras include.

2001 film The Last Castle makes its Blu-ray Debut in May

The 2001 film “The Last Castle” will finally be making its Blu-ray Disc debut on May 25th via Paramount Home Entertainment. The tech specs for the release and bonus materials have yet to be detailed but stay tuned for an update on that. This news comes confirmed via Justin Beahm who worked on the bonus materials for this release with his Reverend Entertainment and discussed the privilege it was to work on the release today on his site. The film, directed by Rod Lurie, starred Robert RedfordJames GandolfiniMark Ruffalo, and Delroy Lindo. You can now find the Blu-ray listed as available to preorder over at Amazon.

2000 film The Legend of Bagger Vance on Blu-ray in May

The 2000 film “The Legend of Bagger Vance” will be finally making its debut to the Blu-ray Disc format on May 25th, via Paramount Home Entertainment, according to retailers. The film, directed by Robert Redford, starred Will Smith, Matt Damon, Charlize Theron, and Jack Lemmon as the narrator. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD presentation in the original 1.85:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.
