The 2004 film Ray is coming to 4K in February

The 2004 film “Ray” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on February 17th via KL Studio Classics [Kino Lorber]. The movie, directed by Taylor Hackford, won two Academy Awards, including “Best Actor in a Leading Role.” It starred Jamie Foxx, Regina King, Kerry Washington, and Clifton Powell. Its supporting cast included Bokeem Woodbine, Harry Lennix, Curtis Armstrong, Richard Schiff, Lorenz Tate, Terrence Howard, David Krumholtz, Wendell Pierce, Sharon Warren, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor.

The movie has received a new 4K scan from the original 35mm camera negative, approved by Director Taylor Hackford. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) and lossless sound, on a BD-100 disc. The audio format and configuration(s) have yet to be detailed by Kino Lorber, but stay tuned for an update. The 2-disc release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray is not yet available for preorder at Amazon or Walmart, but stay tuned for an update on that very soon. In the meantime, you can preorder directly via the Kino Lorber website. The bonus materials included with this release are listed below, sorted by disc.

Caught Stealing on 4K and Blu-ray in November

The 2025 film “Caught Stealing” is set to arrive on 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray on November 11th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Darren Aronofsky directed the movie. It stars Austin Butler, Regina King, Zöe Kravitz, Matt Smith, Liev Schreiber, Vincent D’Onofrio, Benito Martínez Ocasio, Griffin Dunne, and Carol Kane. It’s worth noting that this movie is “Certified Fresh” based on critics’ reviews at Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) high dynamic range, along with Dolby Atmos and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Atmos and DTS-HD MA 5.1 sound. Both the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray will include a digital copy, compatible with Movies Anywhere.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray are now available for preorder at Amazon. Also, you can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray available for preorder at Walmart. The bonus materials set to be included with the physical media releases of this film are listed below.

HBO mini-series “Watchmen” on Blu-ray in June

The 2019 TV mini-series (limited series) adaptation of “Watchmen“ appears to be coming to Blu-ray Disc on June 2nd, via HBO, according to retailers. The show, based on the graphic novel of the same title, was adapted by Damon Lindelof and ran for a total of 9 episodes. The cast for the series included Regina King, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Tom Mison, Sara Vickers, Jeremy Irons, Andrew Howard, Louis Gossett Jr., Jean Smart, and Tim Blake Nelson. Tech specs for the release have not yet been detailed, but stay tuned hopefully very soon for an update. The Blu-ray is now listed for preorder over ar Amazon and Best Buy. Barry Jenkins film “If Beale Street Could Talk” is coming to Blu-ray in late March

The 2018 Barry Jenkins directed film “If Beale Street Could Talk“ coming to Blu-ray Disc on March 26th, via Fox. The film, based on a book and nominated for 3 Oscars, stars KiKi Layne, Stephan James, Regina King, Colman Domingo, and Teyonah Parris. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include 1080p video in the 2.00:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a DVD and digital copy of the film both included. There’s a pre-order listing live for the Blu-ray now over at Amazon.
