Dune 2021 is coming to 4K and Blu-ray in January

The 2021 version of “Dune” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on January 11th, 2022 via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The film, directed by Denis Villeneuve and based on the novels by Frank Herbert, stars Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Jason Momoa, Stellan Skarsgård, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Dave Bautista, David Dastmalchian, and Zendaya. It should be noted, at the time of writing, this film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect and Dolby Atmos sound. Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting its Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray getting its DVD counterpart, and a digital code (copy) of each included — compatible with Movies Anywhere. You cannot yet find the 4K UHD Blu-ray or the Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon, but placeholder pages are up. However, you can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray both available for preorder already over at retailers Target and Walmart.

Retailer Target will be getting an exclusive packaging for the Blu-ray Disc version (pictured below) which is now available for preorder.

It is known that there will also be an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook of the film available over at retailer Best Buy (pictured below). That’s listed as coming soon and is not yet a functional preorder listing.

The 2021 film “Reminiscence” starring Hugh Jackman is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on November 9th via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The film, written & directed by Lisa Joy, co-stars Rebecca Ferguson, Thandie Newton, Cliff Curtis, and Marina de Tavira.

The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Atmos sound. The 4K UHD Blu-ray will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will come with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart. Both the 4K and Blu-ray will include a digital code (copy) of the film which is compatible with Movies Anywhere.

Doctor Sleep comes to 4K and Blu-ray February

The 2019 sequel “Doctor Sleep” starring Ewan McGregor is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on February 4th via Warner. The film, a sequel to The Shining based on the novel by Stephen King and directed by Mike Flanagan, co-stars Rebecca FergusonKyliegh Curran, Cliff Curtis, Zahn McClarnon, Emily Alyn Lind, Selena Anduze, Robert Longstreet, Carel Struycken, Carl Lumbly, Henry Thomas, Bruce Greenwood, Alex Essoe, and Roger Dale Floyd. It should be noted that, at the time of writing, the film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes. Both the 4K and Blu-ray release will include a “Director’s Cut” of the film, in addition to the theatrical version – on the Blu-ray Disc.

“The Kid Who Would Be King” comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray in April

The 2019 film “The Kid Who Would Be King” written and directed by Joe Cornish is heading to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on April 16th, via Fox. The film features a cast of Louis Ashbourne SerkisDenise GoughDean Chaumoo, Tom Taylor, Angus ImrieRhianna Dorris, Nathan Stewart-JarrettNoma Dumezweni, and Rebecca Ferguson. It’s worth noting that this movie is currently (at time of writing) “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.
