1977 film Smokey and the Bandit is coming to 4K in June

The 1977 film “Smokey and the Bandit” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on June 1st via Universal Studios Home Entertainment, according to retailers. The film, directed and co-written by Hal Needham, starred Burt ReynoldsSally FieldJerry Reed, Mike Henry, Pat McCormick, Paul Williams, and Jackie Gleason.

UPDATE: The tech specs include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-66. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” (via the artwork) meaning that it will include its Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film. You can as of now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder (with the 6/1 release date) over at Amazon, as well as retailers Barnes & Noble, DeepDiscount, HD Movie Source, and Target. The bonus materials set to be included on the release (according to the back of the artwork) are listed below.

Jim Henson’s “Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas” on Blu-ray in December

The 1977 TV movie Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas directed by Jim Henson is coming to Blu-ray Disc on December 18th via Sony. Speaking of The Muppets, there’s a special appearance by “Kermit the Frog” in this film. This movie (as a TV special) first originally aired on HBO back in December of 1977. The movie featured music by Paul Williams and the voice talents and Muppet performances by Jerry NelsonFrank OzMarilyn SokolDave GoelzRichard Hunt, and Eren Ozker – as well as Jim Henson. Tech specs for the release have not yet been detailed, nor have the bonus materials, but you can likely expect the DVD extras ported over.
