Scorsese film Shutter Island on 4K in February

The 2010 Martin Scorsese directed film “Shutter Island“ is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on February 11th, 2020 via Paramount – to celebrate its 10th anniversary – in a limited edition SteelBook. The film starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Emily Mortimer, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Max von Sydow, and Michelle Williams. UPDATE: Tech specs for the release include 4K video the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of HDR (high dynamic range) as well as DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound. The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder over at Amazon. The bonus materials on this release will be identical to those found on the 2010 Blu-ray release of the film. In fact, the release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray Disc counterpart of the film set to be included.

Beverly Hills Cop Collection on Blu-ray January

The “Beverly Hills Cop 3-Movie Collection“ is coming to Blu-ray Disc as a set on January 14th, 2020 via Paramount. This set includes 4K remastered versions of the films “Beverly Hills Cop” (1984), “Beverly Hills Cop II” (1987), and “Beverly Hills Cop III” (1994). The two sequels have never been released yet on the Blu-ray format and are making their debut in this 3-Movie Collection. The tech specs for the releases have not yet been detailed but I’m trying to get some info from Paramount soon regarding that. So, stay updated. UPDATE: The Blu-ray set is now available for preorder over at Amazon. Bonus materials set to be included on the Blu-ray Disc for the first film include new and previously materials listed below.

  • NEW Two never-before-seen deleted scenes
  • NEW Four new behind-the-scenes featurettes incorporating vintage 1984 interviews
  • NEW An isolated audio track of the original score by Harold Faltermeyer

Dora and the Lost City of Gold comes to Blu-ray

The 2019 film “Dora and the Lost City of Gold“ is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on November 19th via Paramount. The film, directed by James Bobin and based on the Nickelodeon animated TV series (“Dora the Explorer”), stars Isabela Moner, Eugenio Derbez, Eva Longoria, Michael Peña, Jeff Wahlberg, Danny Trejo, and features the voice talent of Benicio Del Toro (as “Swiper”). It’s worth noting that, at time of writing, this film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes. Tech specs for the release have not yet been fully detailed but you can expect 1080p video likely in the 1.85:1 theatrical aspect ratio and a lossless surround mix. I’ve asked Paramount for more details and I will update this post if and when I get those. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the DVD counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film included. You can find the Blu-ray is now available for preorder over at Amazon.
