The Social Network is coming to 4K in February

The 2010 film The Social Network is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on February 18th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The film was directed by David Fincher and co-written by Aaron Sorkin. It starred Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake, Armie Hammer, and Max Minghella. It’s certainly worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” (by critics) on Rotten Tomatoes.

This release will include 4K presentations of the theatrical and unrated versions of the film. The tech specs include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision or HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 (theatrical & unrated) lossless surround sound. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included along with a digital copy, compatible with Movies Anywhere.

UPDATED: The 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook is now available for preorder at Amazon and Walmart. NOTE: This film was already released on 4K UHD Blu-ray via the “Columbia Classics 4K Ultra HD Collection: Volume 2” box set.

Spiral comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray in July

2021 film “Spiral” starring Chris Rock is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on July 20th, via Lionsgate, according to multiple retailers. The film, the latest in the from the book of “SAW” franchise, directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, co-stars Samuel L. JacksonMax Minghella, and Marisol Nichols. The tech specs for the release have not been fully detailed yet, aside from both getting Dolby Atmos sound, for the 4K and Blu-ray releases but stay tuned for an update. The releases will both come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that the 4K will come with its Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray will come with a DVD, and both will include a digital code (copy) of the film. You can now find the standard 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray available to preorder over at Amazon.

It’s also known that retailer Best Buy will be getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below) which you can now find available for preorder over there.

“The Handmaid’s Tale Season Two” is coming to Blu-ray in early December

The TV Series The Handmaid’s Tale Season Two is coming to Blu-ray Disc on December 4th via MGM (distributed by Fox). The Emmy Award-winning drama TV series was created by Bruce Miller, and can be seen streaming on Hulu. The cast to the series includes Elisabeth MossMax MinghellaYvonne StrahovskiJoseph FiennesAnn Dowd, and Amanda Brugel.

Tech specs for the release include 1080p HD video in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound, spanning across a 4-disc set. The title is not yet available for pre-order over at Amazon or elsewhere, but stay tuned. Below you can find a list of bonus materials set to be included on the release.

2006 Terry Zwigoff directed film “Art School Confidential” on Blu-ray October

The 2006 Terry Zwigoff directed film “Art School Confidential” starring Max Minghella is coming to Blu-ray Disc on October 9th via MVD, in their “MVD Rewind Collection.” Tech specs for the release include full 1080p HD video and 5.1 sound, although not yet fully detailed as to what aspect ratio (presumably the original 1.85:1) and sound format. Stay tuned for an update on that, as well as on official cover art (as what is pictured above, is just the DVD art cropped). The film co-stars: Sophia Myles, John Malkovich, Ethan Suplee, Matt Keeslar, Joel David Moore, Angelica Huston, Jim Broadbent, Nick Swardson, Adam Scott, and Scoot McNairy. The Blu-ray is available for PRE-ORDER now over at Amazon. Bonus materials, supposedly, said to be included on the release are listed below.
