EDITORIAL NOTE: It’s also worth mentioning that this movie has been OOP (out of print) on the Blu-ray format for a long time. So, it’s great to see it will finally be back available on physical media.

The movie has received a new 4K restoration. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Atmos sound. The releases will both come as a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart, as well as a digital copy of the movie included.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon. The standard 4K release will be available at other retailers. The 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below in detail) is now available exclusively for preorder via Lionsgate Limited.

The 4K SteelBook will include one physical extra, a 25th-anniversary Dogma: Revelations of the Easily Offended booklet. The bonus materials included with both 4K releases are listed below.

Two Soderbergh films are coming to 4K in April

Two films directed by Steven Soderbergh are coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on April 15th (individually). The films are The Good German (2006) and The Informant! (2008). Both will be released via Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment. It’s certainly worth noting that “The Informant!” is “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes, based on critics. Each film’s cast is listed below.

“The Good German” cast: George Clooney, Cate Blanchett, Tobey Maguire, Beau Bridges

“The Informant!” cast: Matt Damon, Melanie Lynskey, Joel McHale, Scott Bakula, Tony Hale

The tech specs for the 4K releases are as follows. “The Good German” will be presented in a 1.33:1 aspect ratio in 2160p with Dolby Vision or HDR10 and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. “The Informant!” will be presented in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision or HDR10 and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround. The 4K release of “The Good German” will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. It’s worth noting that a Blu-ray version of the film will also be available on the same date (4/15).

Ocean’s Eleven 2001 remake and trilogy on 4K in April

The remake of “Ocean’s Eleven” from 2001 and the rest of the films in the trilogy will officially be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on April 30th via Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment. The two other films are “Ocean’s Twelve” (2004) and “Ocean’s Thirteen” (2007) and it’s worth noting that there will be individual releases of the films each on 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below). The films, all three directed by Steven Soderbergh, featured casts that included George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia, Julia Roberts, Al Pacino, Don Cheadle, Bernie Mac, Elliott Gould, Ellen Barkin, and the late great Carl Reiner.

The entire trilogy has received a remaster as described below, taken from the press release:

“The 4K remasters of Ocean’s Eleven, Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen were completed at Warner Bros. Discovery’s Motion Picture Imaging (MPI) with the participation of Soderbergh. The restored 5.1 digital audio mix was overseen by original re-recording sound mixer and sound editor Larry Blake.”

The tech specs for the releases of the films include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. An “Ocean’s Trilogy” 4K UHD Blu-ray (pictured at the top) will be available, now available for preorder at Amazon. “Ocean’s Eleven, “Ocean’s Twelve, and “Ocean’s Thirteen” each (individually pictured above) will get a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook as previously mentioned, and they’re now available for preorder over at Amazon. You can also find those individual 4K UHD Blu-ray Steelbooks for preorder at retailer Walmart.

All of the previous Blu-ray bonus materials will be ported over for each film and included on the 4K disc for each film. Each film will receive a digital code (copy) of the film, compatible with Movies Anywhere. 2006 Martin Scorsese film The Departed on 4K in April

The 2006 film “The Departed” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and in a limited edition SteelBook on April 23rd via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The film, directed by Martin Scorsese, starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen, Ray Winstone, and Vera Farmiga.

“The 4K remaster of The Departed was completed at Warner Bros. Discovery’s Motion Picture Imaging (MPI) with the participation of the film’s Academy Award-winning editor Thelma Schoonmaker (Raging Bull, The Aviator).”

Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio in HDR10 form of high dynamic range with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. The release will include a digital code (copy) of the film. You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook available for preorder at retailers like Amazon and Walmart. Steven Soderbergh film Contagion on 4K in February

The 2011 film “Contagion” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on February 27th via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, distributed here by Allied Vaughn.  The film, directed by Steven Soderbergh, starred Marion Cotillard, Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Jude LawGwyneth PaltrowKate Winslet, and Bryan Cranston.

The tech specs for the release have yet to be fully detailed, but you can expect a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and HDR10 form of high dynamic range and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround.  There’s no sign of Dolby Vision or Dolby Atmos being included with this release.  No Blu-ray counterpart will be part of the release, but you will get a digital code (copy) of the film.  Bonus materials should be identical to the previous Blu-ray and likely are housed on the 4K disc.  Stay tuned for an update on the specifics of the release.  NOTE: This release is said to be MOD (manufactured on demand), however, based on previously released titles, this will not be a burnt disc.

MAJOR UPDATES:  Amazon now has the 4K UHD Blu-ray preorder listing back up.  You can also find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder over at Deep Discount and MovieZyng.  The United Kingdom (UK) will be getting two different 4K UHD Blu-ray releases with one being SteelBook (pictured below) which are now available for preorder over at online retailer Zavvi.

The Last Duel comes to 4K and Blu-ray in December

The 2021 film “The Last Duel” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray on December 14th, via 20th Century Studios (Disney). The film, directed by Ridley Scott, stars Matt Damon, Adam Driver, Jodie Comer, Harriet Walter, and Ben Affleck. At the time of writing, it is certainly worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless surround sound. Both releases will come with a digital code (copy) of the film. The 4K UHD Blu-ray will come in the form of a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.
