1997 Wes Craven film Scream 2 on 4K in October

Amazon Commissions Earned

The 1997 sequel “Scream 2” seems to be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray in standard (pictured above) and limited edition “25th anniversary” SteelBook forms on October 4th via Paramount Home Entertainment, according to retailers.  The film, directed by Wes Craven, starred Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, David Arquette, Jamie Kennedy, Jerry O’Connell, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Joshua Jackson, Timothy Olyphant, Liev Schreiber, Jada Pinkett Smith, Omar Epps, and Heather Graham.

As this title has not yet been officially announced, that I can tell, the tech specs for the 4K releases have not yet been detailed but you can for sure expect a 2160p video presentation with at least HDR10 form of high dynamic range and likely a lossless 5.1 surround sound mix.  The releases will both come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray counterpart included as well as a digital code (copy) of the film.  The bonus materials should include all of the previous extras found on the Blu-ray and perhaps some new content, but no word on that yet.  Stay tuned for an update.  In the meantime, you can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below) available for preorder over at Amazon.  The standard 4K UHD Blu-ray is available for preorder as well over at Amazon but it lacks artwork at the moment.

The Omen Collection Deluxe Edition on Blu-ray

the_omen_collection_deluxe_edition_bluray_tilted

The Omen Collection [Deluxe Edition] is coming to Blu-ray Disc as a 5-disc set on October 15th via Scream Factory. This set features the five films “The Omen” (1976), “Damien: Omen II” (1978), “The Final Conflict” (1981), “Omen IV: The Awakening” (1991), and the remake “The Omen” (2006). There are no specific details yet regarding tech specs for the films but stay tuned for an update. It is however definitely worth noting that the first film in this set (“The Omen” original from 1976) will come with a new video transfer from a new 4K remaster. The other four films have not been said to have received new transfers, but they still could as details will be announced at a later point this year. That said, bonus materials are currently “in progress” so you will have to wait to hear what those are specifically, as well. You can now find the Blu-ray set available to pre-order over at Amazon as well as directly from Shout! Factory’s store (with an added bonus rolled lithograph for the first 666 customers).

RUMOR: “Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse” 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray March

spider-man_into_the_spider-verse_4k

RUMOR: 2018 critically acclaimed film “Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse” is coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on March 19th via Sony, according to numerous retailer alerts. A lot of other sites are also reporting this, but the studio has not officially announced this title yet for home video release, so I’m considering it still a rumor (for now). That said, no info has been released yet regarding the tech specs or bonus materials set to be included on the 4K or Blu-ray releases. It is known, now from artwork, that both releases will come in the form of “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray, the Blu-ray getting a DVD, and a Digital Copy of the film included with each.

There are pre-order listings now available for the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc over at Amazon, featuring artwork. Stay tuned for any updates on the release once the studio officially announces it. It is also known that retailer Best Buy will be getting an Exclusive Steelbook for only the Blu-ray version of the film, which you can find available for pre-order here.
