The 1993 film Coneheads comes to 4K in August

The 1993 film “Coneheads” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Special Edition Blu-ray on August 19th via KL Studio Classics. Steve Barron directed the movie. It starred Dan Aykroyd, Jane Curtin, Michelle Burke, Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, and David Spade. Additionally, it co-starred Laraine Newman, Garrett Morris, Phil Hartman, Tim Meadows, Kevin Nealon, Jan Hooks, and Jon Lovitz.

The movie has received a new master from a 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10, accompanied by DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound and 2.0 stereo sound, on a BD-100. The tech specs for the Special Edition Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio, accompanied by DTS-HD MA 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo sound, on a BD-50 disc. The 4K release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

The 2001 comedy “Rat Race” is coming to Blu-ray Disc on June 1st via Paramount Home Entertainment. The film, directed by Jerry Zucker, co-starred Rowan Atkinson, John Cleese, Cuba Gooding Jr., Whoopi Goldberg, Seth Green, Jon Lovitz, Breckin Meyer, and Amy Smart. The tech specs for the Blu-ray have not yet been detailed, nor have bonus materials [if any are] set to be included on the release but stay tuned for an update. 2004 film The Stepford Wives is coming to Blu-ray in June

The 2004 film adaptation of “The Stepford Wives” starring Nicole Kidman is coming to Blu-ray Disc on June 1st via Paramount Home Entertainment. The film, based on the book (of the same title) and directed by Frank Oz, co-starred Matthew Broderick, Bette Midler, Christopher Walken, Faith Hill, Jon Lovitz, and Glenn Close. The tech specs for the Blu-ray have not yet been detailed, nor have bonus materials [if any are] set to be included on the release but stay tuned for an update. City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly’s Gold on Blu-ray May

The 1994 sequel “City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly’s Gold” starring Billy Crystal is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc, for the first time, on May 25th via Shout Factory‘s Shout Select line. The film, directed by Paul Weiland, co-starred Daniel Stern, Jon Lovitz, and Jack Palance. The tech specs for the release should include a 1080p HD presentation in the original 1.85:1 aspect ratio and uncompressed sound, likely in both 5.1 and 2.0 configurations. Stay tuned for if and when those tech specs get officially detailed regarding the sound. The Blu-ray can now be found available for preorder over at Amazon and also directly via Shout! Factory. The bonus materials for this release are currently in production and will be announced closer we come to the release date. So, again, stay tuned for an update regarding this release.

Richard Kelly’s Southland Tales on Arrow Video Blu-ray

The 2006 Richard Kelly film “Southland Tales” will be officially getting a Limited Edition 2-Disc Blu-ray release from Arrow Video on January 26th, 2021. The film, previously released on the format back in 2008, will now feature a new 2K video restoration that was “approved by director Richard Kelly and director of photography Steven Poster.” Tech specs for the Limited Edition Blu-ray release include a 1080p HD presentation in the original 2.35:1 aspect ratio with the original lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and PCM 2.0 Stereo sound mixes. This release will include both the film’s 145-minute Theatrical cut and also the 160-minute “Cannes” cut — as shown at the Cannes Film Festival. The film’s cast included Dwayne Johnson, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Seann William Scott, Justin Timberlake, John Larroquette, Jon Lovitz, Wood Harris, Christopher Lambert, Amy Poehler, Cheri Oteri, Will Sasso, Wallace Shawn, Mandy Moore, Beth Grant, Zelda Rubinstein, and Kevin Smith.
