Deadpool & Wolverine on 4K and Blu-ray in October

The 2024 film “Deadpool & Wolverine” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray, 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook, and Blu-ray Disc on October 22nd via 20th Century Studios (Disney). The film, directed by Shawn Levy, stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Matthew Macfadyen, Dafne Keen, Jon Favreau, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Jennifer Garner, Wesley Snipes, Channing Tatum, and Chris Evans. It’s worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-66 disc. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless surround sound, on a BD-50 disc. The 4K releases will come as a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. Both the 4K and Blu-ray releases will feature a digital copy.

UPDATE: You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray available for preorder at Amazon. You also can preorder the 4K UHD Blu-ray at Walmart. Retailer Walmart will also get an exclusive Blu-ray Disc release featuring pop-up artwork (pictured below). It’s now available for preorder.

Cowboys and Aliens on 4K UHD Blu-ray in September

The 2011 film “Cowboys & Aliens” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 17th via KL Studio Classics. The film, directed by Jon Favreau, starred Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Paul Dano, Clancy Brown, Keith Carradine, Sam Rockwell, Adam Beach, Walter Goggins, Abigail Spencer, and Wyatt Russell.

Tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with SDR (standard dynamic range) and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and DTS-HD Master 2.0 Stereo lossless sound, on a BD-100 disc. The tech specs for the Blu-ray will include a 1080p HD video presentation in 2.39:1 with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and DTS-HD Master 2.0 Stereo sound, on a BD-50 disc. The release will come as a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. The 4K disc will contain the theatrical cut (119 minutes) and the Blu-ray will feature the “Extended Cut” (135 minutes).

The 4K UHD Blu-ray will NOT include any form of high dynamic range and the folks at KL Studio Classics have discussed this choice on social media, specifically on X, as quoted below.

“So before everyone asks, the master was created from the original DI master, we tried to create a HDR/Dolby Vision master, but ran into many issues that could not be resolved, we dropped the Dolby Vision to see if it would make a difference, but it didn’t. So our 2 choices were to either release it on 4K using a UHD SDR master or cancel the release altogether, we think we made the right choice.”

Home Entertainment, according to numerous retail sources.  The film, directed by Jon Favreau, starred Will Ferrell, James Caan, Bob Newhart, Edward Asner, Mary Steenburgen, Zooey Deschanel, Peter Dinklage, Amy Sedaris, and Andy Richter.

Spider-Man No Way Home comes to 4K and Blu-ray April

The 2021 Marvel Studios film “Spider-Man: No Way Home” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray on April 12th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.  The film, directed by Jon Watts, stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau, Benedict Wong, Marisa Tomei, Jamie Foxx, Willem Dafoe, and Alfred Molina.  It should most certainly be noted, at the time of writing, this film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in 2.39:1 aspect with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound.  Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K UHD Blu-ray getting its Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray getting the DVD counterpart, and each includes a digital code (copy) of the film.

The Wolf of Wall Street coming to 4K in December

The 2013 film “The Wolf of Wall Street“ is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on December 14th via Paramount Home Entertainment. The film, directed by Martin Scorsese and based on a true story, starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Margot Robbie, Matthew McConaughey, Kyle Chandler, Rob Reiner, Jon Bernthal, and Jon Favreau.

The movie has received a new transfer that was supervised by the director, Martin Scorsese. The tech specs for the release have not yet all been detailed but stay tuned for an update. The 2160p video presentation should at least include HDR10 form of high dynamic range. The release will come with a digital code (copy) of the film. You can now find the standard 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon. It’s also worth noting that a limited edition 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below) will be available on the same date.

UPDATE: This 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook is now available for preorder over at Amazon and is listed as “coming soon” over at retailer Best Buy.

The Jungle Book live-action on 4K in January

The 2016 live-action adaptation of “The Jungle Book“ is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on January 14th, 2020 via Disney, according to retailers. The film, directed by Jon Favreau, starred Neel Sethi and featured the voice talents of Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong’o, Scarlett Johansson, Giancarlo Esposito, Christopher Walken, and the late Garry Shandling. Tech specs and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for an update on that. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray Disc counterpart of the film (with bonus materials) and a digital code (copy) of the film. You can’t yet find the 4K UHD Blu-ray listed on Amazon, but stay tuned for an update on that. In the meantime, however, it is listed over at retailers Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. It’s worth noting that retailer Best Buy will also be getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook of the film, which is now available for preorder (pictured below).

Tech specs for the 4K release include 2160p video in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. The technical specifications for the Blu-ray include 1080p HD video in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 sound. Both releases will come in the form of “combo pack” with the 4K getting the Blu-ray counterpart (including extras), the Blu-ray getting the DVD, and a digital code (copy) of the film for each. The 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc of the film are now both available for preorder over at Amazon. The 2018 sequel “Spider-Man: Far From Home” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on October 1st via Sony. The film which is part of the “Marvel Cinematic Universe” from Marvel Studios was directed by Jon Watts. The cast to this film included Tom Holland, Samuel L. Jackson, Jake Gyllenhaal, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon. Tech specs for the 4K release include 2160p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range along with Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include 1080p HD video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and presumably just a 5.1 or 7.1 DTS-HD MA lossless mix – although not specified by the studio in the press release. The 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc versions are now both available for pre-order over at Amazon. Retailer Best Buy will be getting a 4K Exclusive Steelbook (pictured below) which is available to pre-order.
