The 1997 film “Spawn” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray in Limited Edition releases on October 7th via Arrow Video. Mark A.Z. Dippé directed and co-wrote the movie, which was based on the comic book character created by Todd McFarlane. It starred Michael Jai White, John Leguizamo, Martin Sheen, Theresa Randle, Nicol Williamson, and D.B. Sweeney.

This motion picture has received restorations of both the Director’s Cut and Theatrical Cut from the original camera negatives (OCN). The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range. It will feature both lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD MA 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo sound. Each version will be presented in a 2-disc set with the Director’s Cut on the first disc and the Theatrical Cut on the second.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray Limited Edition and Blu-ray Limited Edition are now available for preorder at Amazon. George A. Romero’s Land of the Dead on 4K in October

The 2005 horror film “Land of the Dead” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 15th via Scream Factory. The film, written & directed by George A. Romero, starred Simon Baker, John Leguizamo, Dennis Hopper, Asia Argento, Robert Joy, and Eugene Clark.

The release features a new 2024 4K restoration from the original camera negative. The 4K UHD Blu-ray will include the UNRATED (97-minute) version. The release will come in a “combo pack” with Blu-ray Disc counterparts included (for each version). The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos as well as DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray Discs include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo lossless surround.

2021 Disney film Encanto on 4K and Blu-ray February

The 2021 animated film “Encanto” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on February 8th, 2022 via Disney. The film, co-directed by Jared Bush, Byron Howard, and Charise Castro Smith, features songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda and the voice talents of Stephanie Beatriz, María Cecilia Botero, Diane Guerrero, Angie Cepeda, John Leguizamo, Mauro Castillo, Jessica Darrow, Carolina Gaitan, and Wilmer Valderrama. It’s worth noting, that at the time of writing, this film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless surround sound. Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting its Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray getting its DVD counterpart, and both including a digital code (copy) of the film. You cannot yet find either the 4K UHD Blu-ray or the Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon or any other retailers. Speaking of which, there’s no word yet on if there will be any retailer exclusive (as usual for Disney films) for this. Stay tuned for updates. 1993 film Carlito’s Way with Al Pacino on 4K in October

According to multiple retailers, the 1993 film “Carlito’s Way” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 12th via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. The film, directed by Brian De Palma, starred Al Pacino, Sean Penn, Penelope Ann Miller, John Leguizamo, Ingrid Rogers, Luis Guzmán, and Viggo Mortensen.

There will be a standard 4K UHD Blu-ray release (pictured above) available everywhere and an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook over at the retailer Best Buy (pictured below).

You can now find the standard 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon and the 4K SteelBook available for preorder over at retailer Best Buy. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and HDR10+ forms of high dynamic range and DTS:X immersive lossless sound, on a BD-100 disc. The release will come in the form of a 2-disc “combo pack” meaning that the Blu-ray Disc counterpart will be included, along with a digital code (copy) of the film.
