Zootopia 2 is coming to 4K and Blu-ray in March

The 2025 Walt Disney Animation Studios sequel “Zootopia 2” will get physical media releases on 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook and Blu-ray Disc on March 3rd, via Disney.

The movie was co-directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard. It features the voice talents of Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Ke Huy Qua, as well as Fortune Feimster, Andy Samberg, David Strathairn, Idris Elba, Shakira, Patrick Warburton, Bonnie Hunt, and Danny Trejo.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10-compatible) high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-66 disc. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless surround sound on a BD-50 disc. The 4K and Blu-ray releases will each be a 2-disc “combo pack,” with the 4K including its Blu-ray counterpart, and the Blu-ray including its DVD counterpart. Both releases will contain a digital code (copy) of the movie compatible with Movies Anywhere.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 comes to 4K in April

The 2024 film “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” will be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on April 15th. It will also be available on 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured above) in two variations. This release is via Paramount Home Media Distribution. The film is directed by Jeff Fowler. It features a live-action and voice cast. Some of the stars include Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, and Keanu Reeves. The cast also includes Idris Elba, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, and James Marsden. Additionally, there are Tika Sumpter, Krysten Ritter, and Adam Pally.

The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. The releases will come as “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart included, along with a digital copy. NOTE: No individual Blu-ray Disc release will be available for this film.

UPDATED: The standard 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon yet for preorder. The standard 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook is also now available for preorder at Amazon. It features “Sonic” artwork. Also, you can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook available for preorder at Walmart.

Three Thousand Years of Longing on 4K and Blu-ray

The 2022 film “Three Thousand Years of Longing” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on November 15th via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.  The film, directed and produced by George Miller, is based on the short story “The Djinn in the Nightingale’s Eye” written by A.S. Byatt and it stars Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation with HDR10 form of high dynamic range.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p presentation and no word yet on what audio configuration either will receive, but stay tuned for an update on that hopefully soon.  Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting its Blu-ray Disc counterpart, the Blu-ray getting its DVD counterpart, and each including a digital code (copy) of the film.

UPDATE:  You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray versions available for preorder over at retailer Best Buy.

The Suicide Squad on 4K and Blu-ray in October

The 2021 film “The Suicide Squad” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on October 26th via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The film, written and directed by James Gunn, stars Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, Viola Davis, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Peter Capaldi, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Michael Rooker, Alice Braga, Pete Davidson, Nathan Fillion, Flula Borg, Jai Courtney, Steve Agee, Sean Gunn, and features the voice of Sylvester Stallone.

UPDATED: The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.90:1 aspect ratio with HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+ forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the same 1.90:1 aspect ratio and with the same Dolby Atmos sound. Retailer Best Buy will be getting an exclusive release of the 4K UHD Blu-ray in SteelBook form (pictured below) that is also available for preorder.

The 2019 adaptation “Cats“ is coming to Blu-ray Disc on April 7th, via Universal, according to retailer listings. The film, an adaptation of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical of the same title & directed by Tom Hooper, starred Jennifer Hudson, Judi Dench, Taylor Swift, James Corden, Jason Derulo, Idris Elba, Rebel Wilson, Francesca Hayward, and Ian McKellen. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include 1080p HD video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-50 (50 gigabyte dual-layered) Blu-ray Disc. The 2016 live-action adaptation of “The Jungle Book“ is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on January 14th, 2020 via Disney, according to retailers. The film, directed by Jon Favreau, starred Neel Sethi and featured the voice talents of Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong’o, Scarlett Johansson, Giancarlo Esposito, Christopher Walken, and the late Garry Shandling. Tech specs and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for an update on that. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray Disc counterpart of the film (with bonus materials) and a digital code (copy) of the film. You can’t yet find the 4K UHD Blu-ray listed on Amazon, but stay tuned for an update on that. In the meantime, however, it is listed over at retailers Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. It’s worth noting that retailer Best Buy will also be getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook of the film, which is now available for preorder (pictured below).
