The 2000 comedy Road Trip comes to 4K in June

The 2000 comedy “Road Trip” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on June 24th via KL Studio Classics. Todd Phillips directed and co-wrote this movie. It starred Breckin MeyerSeann William ScottAmy SmartTom GreenFred Ward, and DJ Qualls. It also co-starred Rachel BlanchardPaulo CostanzoAnthony RappAndy DickHoratio Sanz, and Ethan Suplee.

The theatrical cut (93 minutes) has received a new master. Paramount Pictures created this new master from a 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision or HDR10. It will feature lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Stereo sound, on a BD-100 disc. The 2-disc release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray counterpart included. The Blu-ray will include the theatrical cut and the UNRATED cut (94 minutes). That unrated cut comes from an HD master.

The 2020 film The Hunt comes to 4K in April

The 2020 film “The Hunt” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on April 22nd via Scream Factory. The film, directed by Craig Zobel, was co-written by Nick Cuse and Damon Lindelof. It starred Betty Gilpin, Hilary Swank, Ike Barinholtz, Ethan Suplee, Emma Roberts, Wayne Duvall, and Glenn Howerton.

The movie is in a new 4K presentation from the original elements. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) and Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo lossless sound. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

“Mallrats” Special Edition Blu-ray in September

The 1995 film Mallrats will be getting a 25th Anniversary Special Edition Blu-ray Disc release on September 29th, via Arrow Video. The film, written & directed by Kevin Smith, starred Jason Lee, Jeremy London, Shannen Doherty, Claire Forlani, Ben Affleck, Joey Lauren Adams, Renee Humphrey, Jason Mewes, Ethan Suplee, Priscilla Barnes, Michael Rooker, and the late great Stan Lee. The release will come with both the original theatrical cut and an extended cut, which have been restored and were approved by Kevin Smith and the film’s cinematographer David Klein. The 2006 Terry Zwigoff directed film “Art School Confidential” starring Max Minghella is coming to Blu-ray Disc on October 9th via MVD, in their “MVD Rewind Collection.” Tech specs for the release include full 1080p HD video and 5.1 sound, although not yet fully detailed as to what aspect ratio (presumably the original 1.85:1) and sound format. Stay tuned for an update on that, as well as on official cover art (as what is pictured above, is just the DVD art cropped). The film co-stars: Sophia Myles, John Malkovich, Ethan Suplee, Matt Keeslar, Joel David Moore, Angelica Huston, Jim Broadbent, Nick Swardson, Adam Scott, and Scoot McNairy.
