2003 film Elf with Will Ferrell on 4K in November

The 2003 film “Elf” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 1st via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, according to numerous retail sources.  The film, directed by Jon Favreau, starred Will Ferrell, James Caan, Bob Newhart, Edward Asner, Mary Steenburgen, Zooey Deschanel, Peter Dinklage, Amy Sedaris, and Andy Richter.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master 5.1 lossless surround sound.  The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film included.  You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon as well as at retailers Best Buy, Target, and Walmart.  The bonus materials set to be included with the release are listed below.

Pixar’s “Up” comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray in March

The 2009 Pixar computer-animated film Up is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on March 3rd, via Disney, it seems according to retail alerts. The film, co-directed by Pete DocterBob Peterson, featured the voice talents of Edward AsnerJordan NagaiJohn Ratzenberger, Delroy Lindo, and Christopher Plummer. Tech specs for the 4K and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for a possible update. It’s very likely the release will come with the HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound – but that’s just speculation based on previous releases. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterparts (two discs) included as well as a digital code (copy) of the film. Lastly, it’s worth certainly mentioning that retailer Best Buy will be getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook release of the film (pictured below), which is now available for preorder.
