The Smashing Machine on 4K and Blu-ray in January

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.78:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) and Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray version include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.78:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound. It seems that the 4K UHD Blu-ray might be an exclusive to the A24 Shop. Also, the release date has only been indicated as sometime in January 2026. Stay tuned for an update on that as well.

You cannot yet find the 4K UHD Blu-ray or Blu-ray available for preorder at Amazon or Walmart. In the meantime, though, you can preorder both versions directly via the A24 Shop. The bonus materials included on the physical media releases are listed below.

The 2003 film The Rundown comes to 4K in August

The 2003 film The Rundown is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on August 26th via KL Studio Classics. Peter Berg directed the movie. It starred Dwayne Johnson (“The Rock”), Seann William ScottChristopher WalkenRosario DawsonJon GriesEwen BremnerWilliam Lucking, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

This features a 4K master, which comes from a new 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision or HDR10 forms of high dynamic range. It will include lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo sound, on a BD-100 disc. The 4K release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

Disney’s Moana 2 on 4K and Blu-ray in March

The 2024 film “Moana 2” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook and Blu-ray Disc on March 18th via Disney. The film was co-directed by David G. Derrick Jr., Jason Hand, and Dana Ledoux Miller. The voice cast includes Auli’i Cravalho, Dwayne Johnson , Hualalai Chung, Rose Matafeo, Alan Tudyk, and Jemaine Clement.

The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.00:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-66 disc. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.00:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless surround sound, on a BD-50 disc. Both releases will come as a “combo pack.” The 4K will include its Blu-ray Disc counterpart. The Blu-ray will include its DVD counterpart. Each release will also include a digital copy of the film.

The 2024 film “Red One” will be released on 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on March 4th via Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment. The film, directed by Jake Kasdan, starred Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans, Lucy Liu, and J.K. Simmons.

The 4K tech specs include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound. Both the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray will include a digital copy of the film. You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray now available for preorder at Amazon. Also, the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray are available for preorder at Walmart.

No bonus materials will be featured on either the 4K or Blu-ray release.

Black Adam comes to 4K and Blu-ray in January

The 2022 DC film “Black Adam” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on January 3rd, 2023 via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.  The film, based on the DC comics character and directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, stars Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Quintessa Swindell,  and Pierce Brosnan.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Atmos sound.  Both versions will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting its Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray getting its DVD counterpart, and each including a digital code (copy) of the film compatible with Movies Anywhere.

You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc available for preorder over at retailers Amazon and Walmart. UPDATE:  You can now also find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray available for preorder over at retailer Best Buy.  There will be retail exclusives too, starting at Walmart with an exclusive limited edition 4K UHD Blu-ray Funko Pop! Jungle Cruise comes to 4K and Blu-ray in November

The 2021 live-action film adaptation of the popular theme park ride “Jungle Cruise” is officially coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on November 16th via Disney. The film, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, stars Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Edgar Ramírez, Jack Whitehall, Jesse Plemons, Veronica Falcón, and Paul Giamatti.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless surround sound. Richard Kelly’s Southland Tales on Arrow Video Blu-ray

The 2006 Richard Kelly film “Southland Tales” will be officially getting a Limited Edition 2-Disc Blu-ray release from Arrow Video on January 26th, 2021. The film, previously released on the format back in 2008, will now feature a new 2K video restoration that was “approved by director Richard Kelly and director of photography Steven Poster.” Tech specs for the Limited Edition Blu-ray release include a 1080p HD presentation in the original 2.35:1 aspect ratio with the original lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and PCM 2.0 Stereo sound mixes. This release will include both the film’s 145-minute Theatrical cut and also the 160-minute “Cannes” cut — as shown at the Cannes Film Festival. “Jumanji: The Next Level” on 4K and Blu-ray March

The 2019 sequel “Jumanji: The Next Level” is officially coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc formats on March 17th via Sony. The film, directed by Jake Kasdan, stars Dwayne JohnsonJack BlackKevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Awkwafina, Danny DeVito, Danny Glover, Colin Hanks, and Rhys Darby. The tech specs for the 4K release will be IMAX Enhanced including 2160p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and DTS:X sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray release have not yet been detailed but stay tuned and I’ll update this when Sony gets me the info. The releases will both come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting the Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray getting the DVD counterpart, and each getting a digital code (copy) of the film included. The 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray are now both available for preorder over at Amazon. It is also worth noting that there will be a bundled “2-Movie Collection” Blu-ray Disc set coming out – featuring the first film: “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” (2017).
