The 2008 film Rambo (AKA “Rambo IV”) starring Sylvester Stallone is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 3rd via Lionsgate. The film, also directed by Stallone, co-starred Julie BenzMatthew Marsden, and Graham McTavish. This 4K release will include the Extended Cut (99-minute) and the Theatrical Cut (91-minute) versions of the film – both on the 4K disc. Tech specs for the 4K include 2160p video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio (unlike the Blu-ray) in HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range with Dolby Atmos sound. 2004 Hellboy film on 4K UHD Blu-ray in October

The 2004 Guillermo del Toro directed film adaptation of Hellboy is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 15th via Sony. The film starred Ron PerlmanDoug JonesSelma BlairJeffrey Tambor, and John Hurt. Tech specs for the release include remastered video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos, as well as the original theatrical 5.1 sound – likely in DTS-HD Master Audio. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray Disc and digital copy (code) of the film included. UPDATE: This title on 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for pre-order over at Amazon. There will also be a 4K Steelbook for the release Exclusive to retailer Best Buy, which is now available for pre-order but lacks any artwork. Stay tuned for an update on that.

Eight Pixar films come to 4K in September

A total of eight of the Pixar CG animated films are finally coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 10th via Disney. The films set to be released are as follows (alphabetically): Brave (2012), Cars (2006), Cars 2 (2011), Finding Dory (2016), Finding Nemo (2003), Inside Out (2015), Ratatouille (2007), and The Good Dinosaur (2015). Tech specs for each of the films would seem to include HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. Each release will come in the form of “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart (including bonus materials) as well as a digital copy (code) of the film.
