The 2021 film The Little Things gets a 4K in July

The 2021 film “The Little Things” is set to arrive on 4K UHD Blu-ray on July 8th via Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment. John Lee Hancock wrote and directed this film. It starred Denzel Washington, Rami Malek, and Jared Leto.

The tech specs have not yet been fully detailed. However, you can likely expect a 2160p video presentation on the 4K in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio, accompanied by at least HDR10 and a lossless 5.1 surround sound mix. But stay tuned for an update on that. This will only include a 4K UHD Blu-ray disc. It will most undoubtedly also include the same bit of bonus materials found on the previously released Blu-ray. The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon.

The 2024 film Gladiator II on 4K in March

The 2024 sequel “Gladiator II” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on March 4th via Paramount Home Media Distribution. Ridley Scott directed and produced the film, which stars Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn, and Connie Nielsen.

The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. The 4K releases will come as a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital copy. NOTE: There will be no standard Blu-ray Disc release for this film, you’ll have to purchase one of these two 4K UHD Blu-ray releases.

The Manchurian Candidate 2004 remake on 4K in March

The 2004 remake of “The Manchurian Candidate” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on March 19th via KL Studio Classics.  The film, directed by Jonathan Demme, starred Denzel Washington, Meryl Streep, Liev Schreiber, Jeffrey Wright, Jon Voight, Roger Corman, Paul Lazar, Bill Irwin, and Anthony Mackie.  It’s certainly worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes, based on critic reviews.

This features a new master from a 4K Scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in the original 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision or HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and lossless 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo audio, on a BD-100 disc. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included (on a BD-50).

Spike Lee film Malcolm X on Criterion 4K and Blu-ray

The 1992 biopic “Malcolm X” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray via The Criterion Collection on November 22nd.  The film, directed, produced, and co-written by Spike Lee, starred Denzel Washington (in the lead role) as well as Angela Bassett, Delroy Lindo, Al Freeman Jr., Albert Hall, Theresa Randle, Kate Vernon, and the film’s director himself Spike Lee.  It’s most certainly worth noting that this film was nominated for two Academy Awards, including “Best Actor in a Leading Role” for Denzel Washington.

The movie has received a new 4K digital restoration supervised by cinematographer Ernest Dickerson.  The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range as well as a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound mix.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD MA 5.1 sound.  The 4K release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with it including both the film Blu-ray counterpart as well as a Blu-ray bonus disc, in a 3-disc set.  Whereas the Blu-ray release will be a 2-disc set with an extra disc for the bonus materials.
