The Killer’s Game comes to 4K and Blu-ray in November

The 2024 film The Killer’s Game will be released on November 19th on 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc via Lionsgate. The film was directed by J.J. Perry and stars Dave Bautista, Sofia Boutella, Scott Adkins, Terry Crews, and Daniel Bernhardt.

The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.00:1 aspect ratio in HDR10 form of high dynamic range with Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.00:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Atmos sound. The releases will both come as a “combo pack” with the 4K featuring its Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray featuring its DVD counterpart, and each version will include a digital copy. You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray available for preorder at Amazon.

There will also be a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook release of the film (pictured below) which is now available preorder at Amazon.

Dune: Part Two is coming to 4K and Blu-ray in May

“Dune: Part Two” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray on May 14th via Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment. The film, directed Denis Villeneuve, stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Souheila Yacoub, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem.

The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Atmos sound. Each version contains a digital code (copy) of the film. You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray available for preorder at Amazon. Also, the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray are available for preorder at Walmart. It’s certainly worth noting that there will be a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below) and a “Dune 2-Film Collection” available on 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray. The SteelBook preorder is pending. Thor Love and Thunder on 4K and Blu-ray in September

The 2022 Marvel Studios sequel “Thor: Love and Thunder” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on September 27th via Disney, according to retailers.  The film, directed by Taika Waititi, stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Russell Crowe, Chris Pratt, Jaimie Alexander, Dave Bautista, Sean Gunn, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, and the director himself (Taika Waititi).

The 4K UHD Blu-ray tech specs include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless surround sound. The 4K release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning it will include the Blu-ray Disc counterpart.  Both the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases will each include a digital code (copy) of the film which is compatible with Movies Anywhere.

Dune 2021 is coming to 4K and Blu-ray in January

The 2021 version of “Dune” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on January 11th, 2022 via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The film, directed by Denis Villeneuve and based on the novels by Frank Herbert, stars Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Jason Momoa, Stellan Skarsgård, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Dave Bautista, David Dastmalchian, and Zendaya. It should be noted, at the time of writing, this film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect and Dolby Atmos sound. Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting its Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray getting its DVD counterpart, and a digital code (copy) of each included — compatible with Movies Anywhere. You cannot yet find the 4K UHD Blu-ray or the Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon, but placeholder pages are up. However, you can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray both available for preorder already over at retailers Target and Walmart.

Retailer Target will be getting an exclusive packaging for the Blu-ray Disc version (pictured below) which is now available for preorder.

It is known that there will also be an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook of the film available over at retailer Best Buy (pictured below). That’s listed as coming soon and is not yet a functional preorder listing.

007 The Daniel Craig Collection on 4K October

A “007: The Daniel Craig Collection“ box set is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 22nd via MGM, according to an early retailer alert. The set contains FOUR of the “007” films that starred Daniel Craig (so far). It’s a bit unclear why they’re choosing to reuse the title again, the same as the Blu-ray set (released earlier this year) when another film has been announced and is coming in 2020? Oh well, “hindsight is 20/20” or perhaps 2020 in this case. However, I digress.

This set does include the following films: “Casino Royale” (2006) directed by Martin Campbell, “Quantum of Solace” (2008) directed by Marc Forster, “Skyfall” (2012) and “Spectre” (2015) directed by Sam Mendes. These films co-starred Judi Dench, Eva Green, Mads Mikkelsen, Jeffrey Wright, Giancarlo Giannini, Caterina Murino, Olga Kurylenko, Mathieu Amalric, Gemma Arterton, Javier Bardem, Bérénice Marlohe, Albert Finney, Christoph Waltz, Léa Seydoux, Ralph Fiennes, Monica Bellucci, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, and Dave Bautista. I know that was rather lengthy but well, someone had to give credit to all of these actors and refresh your memory a bit as well.

The release will come as an 8-Disc set “combo pack” with Blu-ray Discs included for each film (likely to also house the original bonus materials) as well as digital code (copy) of each film. Speaking of which, so far there has not been an official announcement (sent to me) regarding this and as a result, we have no info regarding tech specs or if any new extras will be included on this [doubtful]. Stay tuned though, as I will keep this post updated. The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder over at Amazon. Lastly, the release is said to include an “Extended UNRATED” version of the first film featuring Craig (Casino Royale). This has never been featured on the Blu-ray and seems to perhaps be a 4K exclusive? We shall see. Again, stay tuned.

Guardians of the Galaxy comes to 4K in October

The 2014 Marvel Studios film “Guardians of the Galaxy“ appears to be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 1st via Marvel (Disney), according to multiple retailer listings. The film, part of the “Marvel Cinematic Universe” and directed by James Gunn, starred Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, Benicio Del Toro, and Sean Gunn. It also featured the voice talents of Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper. Tech specs for the 4K release include 2160p video in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray and a digital code (copy) of the film included. You can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray now available for pre-order over at Amazon and at Best Buy. Speaking of retailer Best Buy, they will be getting a 4K Exclusive Steelbook release of the film (pictured below) which is available for pre-order as well.

The bonus materials set to be included on the release will be identical to those found on the previous Blu-ray, as they actually use that disc for the extras. No new extras will be included on this 4K release.

Drew Pearce film “Hotel Artemis” comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray in October

The 2018 Drew Pearce written and directed film “Hotel Artemis” is coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on October 9th via Global Road Entertainment (likely to be distributed by Universal). This news comes via multiple early alerts to  retailers. The film, currently still in theaters, includes a pretty stellar cast such as Jodie Foster, Jeff Goldblum, Sofia Boutella, Sterling K. Brown, Brian Tyree Henry, Jenny Slate, Zachary Quinto, Charlie Day, and Dave Bautista – to just name a few. Tech specs for the releases have not yet been fully detailed, nor have the bonus materials (if any) set to be included, but stay tuned for an update. Both releases come in the form of a “combo pack” with 4K release getting a Blu-ray, and the Blu-ray release getting a DVD, of the film also included.
