The Color Purple musical on 4K and Blu-ray in March

The 2023 musical remake of “The Color Purple” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on March 12th via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The film, produced by Oprah Winfrey, Quincy Jones, & Steven Spielberg, was directed by Blitz Bazawule and features a cast that includes Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, H.E.R., Halle Bailey, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Louis Gossett, Jr., David Alan Grier, Deon Cole, and Ciara. It’s certainly worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.
The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray release include a 1080p HD video presentation in the same aspect ratio and also Dolby Atmos sound. Both releases will include a digital code (copy) of the film.
