Disney film Wish comes to 4K and Blu-ray in March

The 2023 animated film “Wish” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on March 12th via Disney.  The movie, directed by Chris Buck & Fawn Veerasunthorn, features a voice cast that includes Ariana DeBose, Chris Pine, Alan Tudyk, Angelique Cabral, Victor Garber, Natasha Rothwell, Jennifer Kumiyama, Evan Peters, Harvey Guillén, Niko Vargas, Ramy Youssef, Jon Rudnitsky, and Della Saba.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD 7.1 Master Audio sound.  Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting its Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray getting its DVD counterpart, and a digital code (copy) of the film included with each.  You cannot yet find the 4K UHD Blu-ray or Blu-ray available for preorder at Amazon or Walmart.

UPDATE:  It’s certainly worth noting that there will be a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook available as an exclusive at retailer Walmart (pictured below), which is now available for preorder.

Be on the lookout for updates on all of those preorders.  It’s starting to remain unclear if the 4K SteelBook will be the only 4K physical release of the film, to be honest with you all as an editor.  Stay tuned.

Wonder Woman 1984 comes to 4K and Blu-ray in March

The 2020 film “Wonder Woman 1984” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray on March 30th via Warner. The film, directed by Patty Jenkins, stars Gal GadotChris PineKristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Robin Wright, and Connie Nielsen. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 4K presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+ forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD presentation in the 2.39:1 ratio with Dolby Atmos sound. Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that the 4K will come with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart, the Blu-ray will come with its DVD counterpart, and each will come with a digital code (copy) of the film. You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray both are listed as available for preorder over at Amazon. There will also be a 2-film bundle set available on 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray including the first film [“Wonder Woman” (2017)] and this film. UPDATE #1: It turns out, as most had both expected and hoped for, that retailer Best Buy will be getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook release of this film (pictured below) which you can now find available over there for preorder.

UPDATE #2: It seems that there will be a Blu-ray 3D of the film released here in North America and it’s coming the very same day. You can now find that Blu-ray 3D listed as available for preorder over at Amazon and see its cover art pictured below.

RUMOR: “Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse” 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray March

RUMOR: 2018 critically acclaimed film “Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse” is coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on March 19th via Sony, according to numerous retailer alerts. A lot of other sites are also reporting this, but the studio has not officially announced this title yet for home video release, so I’m considering it still a rumor (for now). That said, no info has been released yet regarding the tech specs or bonus materials set to be included on the 4K or Blu-ray releases. It is known, now from artwork, that both releases will come in the form of “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray, the Blu-ray getting a DVD, and a Digital Copy of the film included with each.

There are pre-order listings now available for the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc over at Amazon, featuring artwork. Stay tuned for any updates on the release once the studio officially announces it. It is also known that retailer Best Buy will be getting an Exclusive Steelbook for only the Blu-ray version of the film, which you can find available for pre-order here.

The “Jack Ryan 5-Film Collection” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray this August

According to an early alert to retails the “Jack Ryan 5-Film Collection” it seems is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on August 21st via Paramount. The films had been rumored for 4K release individually, however now we get confirmation via this retail listing that they will be bundled – just as the first 4 films have been on both Blu-ray and HD-DVD formats. The release contains the following films:

  • Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit” (2014)
  • The Sum of All Fears” (2002)
  • Clear and Present Danger” (1994)
  • Patriot Games” (1992)
  • The Hunt for Red October” (1990)

Tech specs and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed by the studio, but stay tuned for an update. The title is available for PRE-ORDER now over at Amazon.
