Transformers One comes to 4K and Blu-ray in December

The 2024 animated film “Transformers One” is officially slated for releases on 4K UHD Blu-ray, 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook, and Blu-ray Disc on December 17th via Paramount Home Media Distribution. The film, produced by Michael Bay and directed by Josh Cooley, features the voice talents of Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, Laurence Fishburne, and Jon Hamm. It’s certainly worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” (by critics) and “Verified Hot” (by audiences) on Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K and Blu-ray have not yet been fully detailed, but it is known that the 4K release will include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 high dynamic range. The Blu-ray will be presented in a 1080p HD video presentation in 2.39:1 aspect ratio. Both releases will very likely include Dolby Atmos sound, however, that’s still yet to be fully confirmed. The 4K releases will come as a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray counterpart.

Each of the 4K and Blu-ray releases will include a digital copy. The 4K UHD Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook are now available for preorder at Amazon. However, there is not a preorder listing yet for the Blu-ray on Amazon. Also, you can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook available for preorder at retailer Walmart, again with no Blu-ray listing yet available, but stay tuned for an update.

The bonus materials set to be included with the releases are listed below.

2013 Ron Howard film Rush arrives on 4K in November

The 2013 film “Rush” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 19th via Shout Select (Shout! Studios). The film, directed by Ron Howard, starred Chris Hemsworth, Daniel Brühl, Olivia Wilde, Alexandra Maria Lara, and Pierfrancesco Favino. It’s worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes.

Tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range along with Dolby Atmos, as well as DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo audio. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder at Amazon. Furiosa Black and Chrome Edition on 4K in September

The 2024 film “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” the “Black & Chrome Edition” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 24th individually and as part of Mad Max: 5-Film Collection via Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment. The film was directed & co-written by George Miller, known for correspondingly directing all of the previous “Mad Max” franchise films. It stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, Alyla Browne, Tom Burke, George Shevtsov, Lachy Hulme, John Howard, Angus Sampson, and Charlee Fraser. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Black & Chrome Edition is a version of the theatrical film which has the color removed in favor of a black a chrome aesthetic.  Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Black & Chrome Edition will feature an introduction by director George Miller.”

There will an individual 4K UHD Blu-ray release of this version of the film. Also, the “Black & Chrome Edition” of “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” will be included with the Mad Max: 5-Film Collection on 4K UHD Blu-ray (pictured below). No Blu-ray version of this collection is planned stateside. This set is now available for preorder over at Amazon, retailer Walmart, and online retailer GRUV. Stay tuned for a preorder listing for the individual 4K UHD Blu-ray of the Black & Chrome Edition.

It also has a placeholder page on Amazon but is yet to be a functional preorder. So, there’s a chance that this SteelBook may end up being a Walmart exclusive — although that is yet to be confirmed. Thor Love and Thunder on 4K and Blu-ray in September

The 2022 Marvel Studios sequel “Thor: Love and Thunder” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on September 27th via Disney, according to retailers.  The film, directed by Taika Waititi, stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Russell Crowe, Chris Pratt, Jaimie Alexander, Dave Bautista, Sean Gunn, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, and the director himself (Taika Waititi).

The 4K UHD Blu-ray tech specs include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless surround sound. The 4K release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning it will include the Blu-ray Disc counterpart.  Both the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases will each include a digital code (copy) of the film which is compatible with Movies Anywhere.

Men In Black International on 4K and Blu-ray

The 2019 film “Men In Black: International” (a.k.a. “MIB International”) is coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on September 3rd via Sony, according to multiple retailers. The film which was directed by F. Gary Gray stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. UPDATE: The title has now been officially announced. Tech specs for the 4K and Blu-ray have not yet been detailed but you can expect HDR10 and Dolby Atmos for the 4K release. Stay tuned for more on specifics for it and the Blu-ray, as I’ll try to get that info out of Sony.

Both of the releases will come in the form of “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray Disc, the Blu-ray getting a DVD, and both getting a digital code (copy) of the film. You can now find both the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray available for pre-order over at Amazon and at retailer Best Buy. Speaking of Best Buy, they’ll be getting an Exclusive 4K Steelbook which you can now find available for pre-order. “Iron Man” and “Thor” films on 4K in August

The five “Marvel Cinematic Universe” films Iron Man (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), Iron Man 3 (2013), Thor (2011), and Thor: The Dark World (2013) are all coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on August 13th via Disney‘s Marvel Studios. These films’ tech specs on 4K all include 2160p video with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. One last thing from a technical side: there is a variety of the 2.35:1 to 2.40:1 aspect ratios on the five different films. These films all will come in the form of “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital copy of each included.

All five of these “MCU” film on 4K UHD Blu-ray are now available for pre-order over at Amazon and Best Buy. Bonus materials will be included on the Blu-ray releases and are identical to their previous releases. There will also be limited edition 4K UHD Blu-ray Steelbook releases for each film exclusive to retailer Best Buy.
