The 1976 version of King Kong comes to 4K in April

The 1979 version of “King Kong” will be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray in a limited edition SteelBook on April 9th via Paramount Home Entertainment.  The film, directed by John Guillermin, starred Jeff Bridges, Charles Grodin, Jessica Lange, John Randolph, Rene Auberjonois, Julius Harris, Jack O’Halloran, and Ed Lauter.  This release will include both the theatrical and extended TV cuts of the film.  The tech specs for the release have not been detailed but you can for sure expect a 2160p video presentation with at least HDR10 form of high dynamic range and lossless audio.  Bonus materials for the release also have yet to be announced.  Stay tuned for an update on tech specs and extras for this release.

Heaven Can Wait with Warren Beatty comes to Blu-ray

The 1978 film Heaven Can Wait starring Warren Beatty is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on November 30th via Paramount Home Entertainment. This will mark the first time this film has been on the Blu-ray format, making it its debut. The film, co-directed & co-written by Warren Beatty, co-starred Julie ChristieJames MasonCharles GrodinDyan CannonBuck HenryVincent Gardenia, and Jack Warden. Heaven Can Wait was nominated for a total of eight Academy Awards and ended up winning the Oscar for “Best Art Direction / Set Decoration.”

The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation remastered from the original negative under Warren Beatty’s supervision, presumably in the original 1.85:1 aspect ratio. While the audio presentation (likely in the original Mono) has not yet been detailed, but stay tuned for an update on that. The release will come with a digital code (copy) of the film. The 1968 Academy Award-winning film “Rosemary’s Baby” is getting a standard Blu-ray Disc release on May 25th, via Paramount Home Entertainment, according to retailers. The film, directed by Roman Polanski, starred Mia FarrowJohn CassavetesRuth Gordon, Sidney Blackmer, Ralph Bellamy, and Charles Grodin. The tech specs for the Blu-ray have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for an update. It is known that the release will come with a digital code (copy) of the film.
