The 1998 film“Small Soldiers” directed by Joe Dante is coming to Blu-ray Disc, for the very first time in North America, on February 2nd, 2021, via Paramount. The movie was an action, adventure, comedy that used a combination of both live-action video and CG animation. It featured a (live-action) cast of Kirsten Dunst, Gregory Smith, Jacob Smith, Phil Hartman, Wendy Schaal, David Cross, Denis Leary, and Dick Miller. The movie also featured a legendary voice cast that included Tommy Lee Jones, Frank Langella, Bruce Dern, Jim Brown, George Kennedy, Clint Walker, Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Christina Ricci.
UPDATE: The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p presentation in the OAR (original aspect ratio) of 2.39:1 and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 sound. You can now find the Blu-ray listed to preorder over at Amazon. The bonus materials set to come with this Blu-ray are listed below.
Behind-The-Scenes Look at the Making of Small Soldiers
The 1999 film “The Haunting“ is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on October 20th via Paramount Presents. This release will be spine number 10 in the Paramount Presents line. The film, based on the novel by Shirley Jackson & directed by Jan de Bont, starred Liam Neeson, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Owen Wilson, and Lili Taylor. The movie has received a new4Ktransfer that was supervised by the director (as seen quoted below), however, tech specs for the release have not yet been fully detailed.
“The limited-edition Paramount Presents Blu-ray Disc™ is presented in collectible packaging that includes a foldout image of the film’s theatrical poster, and an interior spread with key movie moments. Newly remastered from a 4K film transfer supervised by Jan de Bont, THE HAUNTING Blu-ray also includes a new Filmmaker Focus with the director, access to a Digital copy of the film, as well as a the previously released vintage behind-the-scenes featurette hosted by Catherine Zeta-Jones, and original trailers.”

The 2019 Quentin Tarantino film “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on December 10th, via Sony. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Emile Hirsch, Margaret Qualley, Timothy Olyphant, Julia Butters, Dakota Fanning, Bruce Dern, and Al Pacino. Tech specs for the 4K release include 2160p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio withHDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and DTS-HD 7.1 Master Audio sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound. Both the standard 4K and Blu-ray versions will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting the Blu-ray counterpart, the Bu-ray getting the DVD counterpart and each getting a digital code (copy) of the film. The film is now available to preorder on 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc (in standard releases) over at Amazon. There will also be a very cool retro “Collector’s Edition“ of the film released on 4K UHD Blu-ray (pictured below) which will include the physical extras like a 45rpm vinyl single of “Rick Dalton” music, a collectible MAD Magazine from 1969, and a fictional movie poster (starring “Rick Dalton”) in very beautiful packaging.
