Bong Joon Ho film Okja on Criterion 4K and Blu-ray

The 2017 film Okja is officially coming to the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray formats on July 5th via The Criterion Collection.  The film, directed & co-written by Bong Joon Ho, starred An Seo Hyun, Byun Heebong, Tilda Swinton, Steven Yeun, Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Giancarlo Esposito, and the voice of Jungeun Lee.

These releases come from a “4K digital master, approved by director Bong Joon Ho.”  The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound.  The 4K UHD Blu-ray will come in the form of a 2-disc “combo pack” with the Blu-ray counterpart included.

Bong Joon Ho film Memories of Murder on Blu-ray in April

The 2003 Bong Joon Ho written & directed film Memories of Murder is officially getting a Blu-ray Disc from The Criterion Collection on April 20th. The film, from South Korea and in the Korean language, has received a new 4K restoration that was supervised by the cinematographer and approved by the director. In terms of tech specs, the Criterion Blu-ray release will come with a 1080p HD presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and Korean DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound with English subtitles. The upcoming Blu-ray release of the film is now available for preorder over at Amazon and directly via The Criterion Collection. Bong Joon Ho’s “Parasite” comes to 4K in June

The 2019 Bong Joon Ho directed film Parasite is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on June 2nd, via Universal, according to retailers. The film, winner of 4 Academy Awards (including Best Picture), was previously released on Blu-ray earlier this year. The tech specs for the 4K release includes a video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and HDR10+ forms of High Dynamic Range and Korean Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-100 (100 gigabytes disc). The release will come as a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart included as well as a digital code (copy) of the film. You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray listed for preorder over at Amazon. The bonus material, comprised of a Q&A with Director Bong Joon Ho, will be identical to the previous Blu-ray but will also be presented in 4K resolution on the 4K UHD Blu-ray Disc. It’s lastly worth noting that The Criterion Collection also has plans to release this film in their collection on the Blu-ray format at some point later this year. The critically-acclaimed 2019 Bong Joon Ho directed film Parasite is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on January 28th via Universal. The film, from South Korea and nominated for 6 Oscars (including Best Picture), stars Song Kang Ho, Lee Sun Kyun, Cho Yeo Jeong, Choi Woo Shik, Park So Dam, and Chang Hyae Jin. At the time of writing this, the film carries a 99% rating and is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include 1080p HD video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 Korean audio with English and French subtitles on a BD-50 disc. The film will come with a digital code (copy) of the film included. You can now find the Blu-ray listed for preorder over at Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart.
