Marvel’s Eternals comes to 4K and Blu-ray in February

The 2021 Marvel Studios film “Eternals” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on February 15th, 2022 via Disney. The film, directed and co-written by Chloé Zhao, stars Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, and Angelina Jolie.

Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray release include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless surround sound. The 4K release of the film will come in the form of a “combo pack” including the Blu-ray counterpart, and both 4K and Blu-ray physical versions will come with a digital code (copy) of the film.

You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon, of all places, but there’s no listing yet for the Blu-ray. Alternatively, you can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray available for preorder over at retailer Best Buy, where they also will be getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below).

UPDATE: retailer Target will be getting a 4K UHD Blu-ray exclusive “Art Edition” release, which is now available for preorder (pictured below).

The bonus materials set to be included with both the 4K and Blu-ray physical releases are listed below.

  • Immortalized – Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe launches into the cosmos with the Eternals. In this behind-the-scenes documentary, dive deep into the reasons why Marvel wanted to immortalize these superheroes for the MCU.

Those Who Wish Me Dead comes to Blu-ray in August

The 2021 film Those Who Wish Me Dead starring Angelina Jolie is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on August 3rd, via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The film, directed by Taylor Sheridan, co-stars Jon Bernthal, Nicholas Hoult, Jake Weber, Finn Little, Aidan Gillen, Medina Senghore, and Tyler Perry. The tech specs for the Blu-ray release include a 1080p HD video presentation and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound. The release will come with a digital code (copy) of the film via Movies Anywhere. You can now find the Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon. There will only be one bonus feature on this release, called “Making Those Who Wish Me Dead.”

Tomb Raider restored Blu-ray and 2-Movie 4K set in June

To celebrate the 20th anniversary the 2001 film “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” will be getting a new remastered Blu-ray Disc release on June 1st via Paramount. The film has been previously remastered for the 4K release and this will be the first time that the remastered version has been available on the Blu-ray format. The film, directed by Simon West, starred Angelina Jolie. Tech specs for the release include a 1080p HD presentation and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. The release will come with a digital copy of the film. The bonus materials set to be included on this 20th anniversary edition of the film on Blu-ray are listed below.

You can find this upcoming Remastered Blu-ray now available for preorder over at Amazon.

Also, there will be a “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider 2-Movie Collection” 4K UHD Blu-ray set available on June 1st available as well, via Paramount. These two films, including the sequel “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life” (2003), have been previously released on the 4K format individually but they will be getting bundled together to celebrate the anniversary of the first film. You can find that release pictured below and the 2-Movie Collection 4K UHD Blu-ray set is now available for preorder over at Amazon. The tech specs, for those films on 4K UHD Blu-ray, include 2160p in HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. This release will not include the previous Blu-ray releases of either film, so that means likely the bonus materials will be on the 4K discs? Also, you’ll get a digital copy of each film with this set (pictured below).

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil on 4K and Blu-ray

The 2019 sequel “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” seems to be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on January 14th, 2020 via Disney, according to retailers. The film, directed by Joachim Rønning, stars Angelina JolieElle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer, Harris DickinsonSam Riley, Robert Lindsay, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Tech specs and bonus materials for the release have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for an update on that. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray counterpart (with bonus materials), the Blu-ray getting a DVD counterpart, and both getting a digital code (copy) of the film. You can’t yet find the 4K UHD Blu-ray or Blu-ray listed on Amazon, but stay tuned for an update on that. In the meantime, however, you can find both the 4K and Blu-ray listed over at retailers Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. It’s worth noting that retailer Best Buy will also be getting an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook of the film, which is now available for preorder (pictured below).
