The 2000 film The Patriot gets a 4K SteelBook in June

The 2000 film “The Patriot” will get a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook release on June 9th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
NOTE: This movie has previously been released on the 4K UHD Blu-ray format, back in 2018. Regardless, this time around it features some things like multiple cuts of the movie and a Dolby Vision form of HDR for the first time.
Roland Emmerich directed the film. It starred Mel Gibson, Heath Ledger, Joely Richardson, Jason Isaacs, Chris Cooper, and Tom Wilkinson. The movie was nominated for a total of 3 “Oscars” (Academy Awards).
This release will come as a 2-disc set with two 4K UHD Blu-ray discs. The first disc will contain the theatrical [165-minute] cut, and the second disc will contain the UNRATED [175-minute] version. Tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) form of high dynamic range. Audio will be presented in Dolby Atmos and lossless 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. This will be the first time the unrated version of the film is available in 4K, and the first time either version is available with 12-bit Dolby Vision. The release will include a digital copy of the movie, compatible with Movies Anywhere.

The 1983 film Blue Thunder is coming to 4K in May

The 1983 crime drama “Blue Thunder“ is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray in a Limited Edition on May 5th via Arrow Video, distributed stateside by MVD Entertainment Group.
John Badham directed the movie, which featured a screenplay co-written by Dan O’Bannon and Don Jakoby. The film starred Roy Scheider, Daniel Stern, Warren Oates, Candy Clark, David Sheiner, Joe Santos, and Malcolm McDowell.
It has received a 4K restoration from the original negative. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) high dynamic range, along with lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 (remix) surround and (original) 2.0 Stereo sound.

The 1981 Lawrence Kasdan film Body Heat comes to 4K

The 1981 erotic/psychological thriller “Body Heat“ is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Special Edition Blu-ray on May 19th via The Criterion Collection.
Lawrence Kasdan wrote and directed the motion picture. It starred William Hurt, Kathleen Turner, Richard Crenna, Ted Danson, Mickey Rourke, J.A. Preston, Kim Zimmer, and Jane Hallaren.
The movie has received a new 4K digital restoration, supervised by editor Carol Littleton and approved by director Lawrence Kasdan. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) high dynamic range, along with uncompressed [LPCM] 2.0 stereo and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Linear PCM 2.0 stereo and DTS-HD MA 5.1 surround sound.
The 4K UHD Blu-ray will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. The 4K UHD Blu-ray and Special Edition Blu-ray are now available for preorder at Amazon.
