The 1989 film “Uncle Buck” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on February 18th via KL Studio Classics. The film was written & directed by John Hughes. It starred John Candy, Macaulay CulkinJean Louisa KellyGaby HoffmannAmy MadiganLaurie MetcalfMike StarrGarrett M. Brown, and Elaine Bromka.

The movie has received a new 4K master, from a 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision or HDR10 forms of high dynamic range on a BD-100 disc. Audio will be presented in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and Lossless 2.0 Stereo. The release will come as a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

The 2000 film Reindeer Games on 4K in January

The 2000 film “Reindeer Games” will be released in two formats. It will be available on 4K UHD Blu-ray and Special Edition Blu-ray Disc. The release date is January 14th via KL Studio Classics. The film was directed by John Frankenheimer. It starred Ben AffleckCharlize Theron, and Gary Sinise. It also featured Dennis FarinaClarence Williams IIIIsaac Hayes, and Danny Trejo. Further roles included Donal Logue and James Frain.

The movie’s theatrical cut has received a new 4K master from a 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation of the theatrical cut in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and lossless 2.0 sound, on a BD-100 disc. The tech specs for the Special Edition Blu-ray include a 1080p video presentation of the Director’s Cut in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0 lossless sound, on a BD-50 disc. The Director’s Cut comes from an HD master. The 4K release will come as a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

The 2017 film “The Shape of Water” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 26th via The Criterion Collection. The Academy Award-winning 2018 Best Picture of the Year, directed & co-written by Guillermo del Toro, starred Sally Hawkins, Richard Jenkins, Michael Shannon, Octavia Spencer, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Doug Jones. Aside from winning four Academy Awards, the film is still “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s most certainly worth noting that this film has already received a 4K UHD Blu-ray release back in 2018, yet this will feature a different visual presentation.

The movie has received a 4K digital master, supervised by director Guillermo del Toro. The film, directed by Sidney Lumet, was based on the novel of the same title (written by Agatha Christie. The Power of the Dog gets Criterion 4K and Blu-ray

The 2021 film “The Power of the Dog” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on November 8th via The Criterion Collection.  The film (as seen on Netflix), directed and adapted to screenplay by Jane Campion, stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Jesse Plemons, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Kirsten Dunst.  It’s certainly worth noting that, at the time of writing, this film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie has received a 4K DI (digital intermediate) master which was approved by the director (Jane Campion).  The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.28:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 or Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.28:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Atmos sound.  The 4K UHD Blu-ray release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning it will be a 2-disc set with its Blu-ray counterpart.
