The 2023 sequel “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on February 13th via Lionsgate Home Entertainment.  The film, directed by Francis Lawrence, stars Tom Blyth, Rachel Zegler, Hunter Schafer, Jason Schwartzman, Peter Dinklage, Josh Andrés Rivera, and Viola Davis.  The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound.  The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound.  Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting its Blu-ray counterpart and the Blu-ray getting its DVD counterpart included and each having a digital copy (code).  You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray both available for preorder over at Amazon and Walmart (with the links at the top).

Fans can rejoice as there will be a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook and also a 4K UHD Blu-ray Collector’s Edition available as exclusives at retailer Walmart (pictured below) which you can now find available for preorder.  NOTE:  Walmart has been showing the Collector’s Edition as sold out, but keep checking back, and perhaps closer to the release date they will have a preorder available again.

1952 Kubrick film Fear and Desire on 4K in February

The 1952 war drama “Fear and Desire” directed by the legendary Stanley Kubrick will be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc (in a “Special Edition”) on February 27th via KL Studio Classics (Kino Lorber).  Both cuts, theatrical and the “Uncut Premiere Version” of the movie have received a NEW 4K Restorations in collaboration with the U.S. Library of Congress “from the 35mm Camera Negative and Fine Grain.”  The film starred Frank SilveraPaul MazurskyVirginia LeithKenneth HarpStephen CoitToba Kubrick, and David Allen.

Tech specs for the release include a Black and White 2160p video presentation in the 1.37:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and lossless Mono sound.  The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that a Blu-ray will also be included, in addition to the 4K disc.
