2023 film Next Goal Wins comes to Blu-ray in February

The 2023 sports film “Next Goal Wins” is coming to Blu-ray Disc on February 27th via 20th Century Studios (Disney).  Based on a true story, the film was co-written and directed by Taika Waititi and stars Michael Fassbender, Oscar Kightley, Kaimana, David Fane, Rachel House, Beulah Koale, and Will Arnett.  The tech specs for the release include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.00:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio.  The release will include a digital code (copy) of the film.  You can find the Blu-ray now available for preorder over at Amazon and Walmart.  Bonus materials set to be included with the release are listed below.

1996 film Primal Fear on 4K UHD Blu-ray in March

The 1996 film “Primal Fear” will be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on March 26th as part of the Paramount Presents series, as spine number 43, through Paramount Home Entertainment.  The film, directed by Gregory Hoblit, starred Richard Gere, Laura Linney, Edward Norton, John Mahoney, Alfre Woodard, Frances McDormand, and Terry O’Quinn.

The tech specs for the release have yet to be detailed, but you can very likely expect a 2160p video presentation with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and lossless surround sound.  The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included and a digital code (copy) of the film.  Bonus materials have yet to be announced, but you can for sure expect the previous Blu-ray extras ported over and possibly new extras.  Stay tuned for an update.  The 4K UHD Blu-ray release is now available for preorder over at Amazon.  Below you can see the packaging which includes a fold-out of the original theatrical movie poster.

1989 comedy Major League is coming to 4K in April

The 1989 comedy “Major League” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on April 2nd via Paramount Home Entertainment, according to retailers.  The film, celebrating its 35th anniversary this year (as noted on the packaging above), was written & directed by David S. Ward and starred Charlie Sheen, Tom Berenger, Corbin Bernsen, Margaret Whitton, James Gammon, Wesley Snipes, Rene Russo, Charles Cyphers, Chelcie Ross, Dennis Haysbert, Andy Romano, and Bob Uecker.

UPDATE:  The tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in the correct 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and lossless Dolby TrueHD 5.1 surround sound.  The release will include a digital code (copy) of the film.  You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder at Amazon and Walmart.  It’s most certainly worth noting that there will also be a limited edition 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook release (pictured below) that is available for preorder over at Amazon as well.  The bonus materials for both releases include all of the previous Blu-ray extras on the 4K disc. Rick and Morty Season 7 is coming to Blu-ray in March

The popular animated TV series “Rick and Morty: The Complete Seventh Season” is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on March 12th via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.  The show, which airs on [adult swim], was co-created by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland.  The voice cast this season features Ian Cardoni as “Rick” and Harry Belden as “Morty.”  The returning voice cast for the season includes Chris Parnell, Spencer Grammer, and Sarah Chalke.

The tech specs for the Blu-ray release include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound.  The release will presumably include a digital copy of the season, although it has yet to be verified. The Marvels are coming to both 4K and Blu-ray in February

The 2023 Marvel Studios film “The Marvels” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on February 13th via Disney.  The film, the latest in the “Marvel Cinematic Universe” was directed by Nia DaCosta, and it stars Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, Zawe Ashton, Gary Lewis, Seo-Jun Park, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Saagar Shaikh, and  Samuel L. Jackson.

The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-66 disc.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless surround on a BD-50 disc.  The 4K will come in the form of a “combo pack” getting its Blu-ray counterpart.  Both releases will each be including a digital code (copy) of the film.

Steven Soderbergh film Contagion on 4K in February

The 2011 film “Contagion” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on February 27th via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, distributed here by Allied Vaughn.  The film, directed by Steven Soderbergh, starred Marion Cotillard, Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Jude LawGwyneth PaltrowKate Winslet, and Bryan Cranston.

The tech specs for the release have yet to be fully detailed, but you can expect a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and HDR10 form of high dynamic range and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround.  There’s no sign of Dolby Vision or Dolby Atmos being included with this release.  No Blu-ray counterpart will be part of the release, but you will get a digital code (copy) of the film.  Bonus materials should be identical to the previous Blu-ray and likely are housed on the 4K disc.  Stay tuned for an update on the specifics of the release.  NOTE: This release is said to be MOD (manufactured on demand), however, based on previously released titles, this will not be a burnt disc.

MAJOR UPDATES:  Amazon now has the 4K UHD Blu-ray preorder listing back up.  You can also find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder over at Deep Discount and MovieZyng.  The United Kingdom (UK) will be getting two different 4K UHD Blu-ray releases with one being SteelBook (pictured below) which are now available for preorder over at online retailer Zavvi.
