The 1982 film “Gandhi” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on April 29th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The film, a winner of 8 Academy Awards, was directed by Richard Attenborough. It starred Ben Kingsley, Candice Bergen, Edward Fox, John Gielgud, Trevor Howard, John Mills, and Martin Sheen.

The movie has received a restoration from the original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo lossless sound. The motion picture is split across two 4K discs. The 4-disc release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. It will also come with a digital copy of the film compatible with Movies Anywhere.

NOTE: This film has been available on 4K UHD Blu-ray before. It was previously included with the “Columbia Classics 4K UHD Ultra HD Collection: Volume 1” box set. However, this individual release will be the first time that Dolby Vision is included with the physical media release. Up until now, it has only been included digitally.

The 2023 film “Renfield” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on April 1st via Scream Factory. The film was directed by Chris McKay. It starred Nicholas Hoult, Awkwafina, Nicolas Cage, Ben Schwartz, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Brandon Scott Jones.

The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound. This release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

The 1994 film “Timecop” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on April 29th via Scream Factory. The film was directed by Peter Hyams. It starred Jean-Claude Van Damme, Mia Sara, Ron Silver, Bruce McGill, Gloria Reuben, Scott Bellis, Jason Schombing, and Scott Lawrence.

This comes from a new 4K transfer from the 35mm original camera negative. The 4K tech specs include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) form of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master 5.1 lossless surround sound. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included, featuring the new 4K transfer.

Den of Thieves 2 on 4K and Blu-ray in March

The 2025 film “Den of Thieves 2: Pantera” comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray on March 4th via Lionsgate. The film was directed and co-written by Christian Gudegast. The cast includes Gerard Butler, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Evin Ahmad, Salvatore Esposito, and Meadow Williams.

The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Atmos sound. Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack.” The 4K will include its Blu-ray counterpart and the Blu-ray will include its DVD counterpart. A digital copy will be included with each release.

Desperado is getting a standard 4K in March

The 1995 film “Desperado” will get an standard 4K UHD Blu-ray release on March 25th via Arrow Video. The film was written & directed by Robert Rodriguez. It starred Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Steve Buscemi, Joaquim de Almeida, Cheech Marin, Quentin Tarantino, and Danny Trejo.

The movie has received a 4K restoration from the original camera negative by Sony Pictures. The 4K tech specs include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (or HDR10) form of high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround and 2.0 Stereo sound.

NOTE: This is not the first time the film has been available on the 4K UHD Blu-ray format. It was previously released included in a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook. It was also part of a Blu-ray box set with “The Mexico Trilogy” in August of 2024.

The 2024 BBC nature documentary “Asia” is coming to Blu-ray Disc on March 25th via BBC Studios. The documentary is narrated by Sir David Attenborough. It consists of a total of 7 episodes.

The 3-disc set’s tech specs include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound. It seems that no bonus materials will be included with this release. The Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon and Walmart.
