The 1950 film Harvey is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on August 19th via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Henry Koster directed the movie. It starred James Stewart, Josephine Hull, Charles Drake, Cecil Kellaway, Victoria Horne, Wallace Ford, and Peggy Dow. It’s worth noting this motion picture is celebrating its 75th anniversary.

The tech specs for the 4K included a 2160p Black & White presentation in a 1.37:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range. It will include lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono sound on a BD-66 disc. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included as well as a digital copy, compatible with Movies Anywhere.

The 1990 film The Two Jakes gets a 4K in August

The 1990 film “The Two Jakes” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on August 26th via KL Studio Classics. Jack Nicholson directed and starred in the movie. It co-starred Harvey KeitelMeg TillyMadeleine Stowe, James Hong, and Eli Wallach.

The movie has received a new 4K master from a 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo sound, on a BD-100 disc. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

You cannot yet find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder at Amazon, but stay tuned for an update on that. In the meantime, you can preorder directly via Kino Lorber’s website.

Thunderbolts* on 4K and Blu-ray in July

The 2025 film “Thunderbolts*” officially arrives on 4K UHD Blu-ray, 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook, and Blu-ray Disc on July 29th. The releases will be via Marvel Studios, owned and distributed by Disney. Jake Schreier directed this latest film in the “Marvel Cinematic Universe.” It stars Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Sebastian Stan, Lewis Pullman, Hannah John-Kamen, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. It’s certainly worth noting this film is “Certified Fresh” (by critics) and “Verified Hot” (by audiences) on Rotten Tomatoes.

The 2021 film The Little Things gets a 4K in July

The 2021 film “The Little Things” is set to arrive on 4K UHD Blu-ray on July 8th via Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment. John Lee Hancock wrote and directed this film. It starred Denzel Washington, Rami Malek, and Jared Leto.

The tech specs have not yet been fully detailed. However, you can likely expect a 2160p video presentation on the 4K in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio, accompanied by at least HDR10 and a lossless 5.1 surround sound mix. But stay tuned for an update on that. This will only include a 4K UHD Blu-ray disc. It will most undoubtedly also include the same bit of bonus materials found on the previously released Blu-ray. The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon.

The 1995 film Casper comes to 4K in August

The 1995 film “Casper” arrives on 4K UHD Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on August 12th. Universal Studios Home Entertainment will be doing the releases. Brad Silberling directed the film. The movie starred Bill Pullman, Christina Ricci, Cathy Moriarty, Eric Idle, Ben Stein, and Don Novello. It’s worth noting that this motion picture is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Also, the movie was executive produced by Steven Spielberg with his company, Amblin Entertainment.

The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range. It will also include Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-100 disc. The 4K releases (standard and SteelBook) will both be a 2-disc “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart enclosed. The 1984 Mockumentary “This Is Spinal Tap” comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray on September 16th via The Criterion Collection. Rob Reiner directed the film.
