Karate Kid Legends on 4K and Blu-ray in August

The 2025 sequel “Karate Kid: Legends” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray, 4K SteelBook, and Blu-ray on August 26th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Jonathan Entwistle directed the movie. It stars Jackie Chan, Ralph Macchio, Ben Wang, Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, and Wyatt Oleff. It’s worth noting this film is “Verified Hot” based on audience ratings at Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio, accompanied by Dolby Vision or HDR10, and Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound. The 4K release(s) will come as a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. All versions (4K and Blu-ray) include a digital copy of the film, compatible with Movies Anywhere.

Retailer Walmart will get an exclusive 4K UHD Blu-ray Collector’s Limited Edition with a skateboard (pictured below). This release appears to be limited to 510 units (in total), with each skateboard individually numbered and a wall mount kit.

The 2025 film “The Phoenician Scheme” comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray on July 29th via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Wes Anderson directed and co-wrote the film with Roman Coppola. It stars Benicio Del Toro, Mia Threapleton, Michael Cera, Riz Ahmed, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Willem Dafoe, Scarlett Johansson, and Rupert Friend. It’s certainly worth noting that the movie is “Certified Fresh” based on reviews from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.47:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 form of high dynamic range. The 4K will also include Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-66 disc. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.47:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-50 disc. The 2013 movie “Mama“ is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray in a “Collector’s Edition” on September 30th via Scream Factory. Andy Muschietti directed and co-wrote the movie. Guillermo del Toro served as executive producer. It starred Jessica Chastain, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Megan Charpentier, Daniel Kash, and Isabelle Nelisse.

The motion picture has received a new 2024 4K restoration. Knight Rider The Complete Series on 4K in July

The TV show “Knight Rider: The Complete Series“ is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on July 22nd via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. The show ran for a total of four seasons from 1982 through 1986. It starred David Hasselhoff.

The tech specs include a 21-disc set, in 2160p presumably in the original 1.33:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range. The audio format has yet to be announced, but I’m expecting it to be a lossless stereo sound mix for the entire series. Stay tuned for an update on the exact technical specifications.

The 1990 remake of “Night of the Living Dead“ is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on September 23rd via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Tom Savini directed the film, which George A. Romero produced. It starred Tony Todd and Patricia Tallman. The movie is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year.

The 4K release includes both the new UNRATED “Uncensored Cut” and the theatrical release. Both versions will be presented in 2160p video in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 form of high dynamic range. The sound will be presented in Dolby Atmos, lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround, and 2.0 surround (for theatrical cut only).
