The 1985 Western Silverado comes to 4K in October

The 1985 Western genre film Silverado is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook for the first time on October 7th, courtesy of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Lawrence Kasdan directed and co-wrote the film with his brother Mark Kasdan. The movie starred Kevin Kline, Scott Glenn, Rosanna Arquette, John Cleese, Kevin Costner, Brian Dennehy, Danny Glover, Jeff Goldblum, and Linda Hunt.

The motion picture has been restored from the original camera negative (OCN). The 4K tech specs include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range. The audio on the 4K will be presented in Dolby Atmos, as well as with optional lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0 surround sound. The 2-disc release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. A digital copy, presumably compatible with Movies Anywhere, will be included with this release.

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World 4K

The 2003 film Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on August 5th via Disney (20th Century Studios). Peter Weir directed and co-wrote the movie. It starred Russell Crowe, Paul Bettany, James D’Arcy, Chris Larkin, and Billy Boyd. It’s certainly worth noting that, even to this day, this movie is “Certified Fresh” by critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie has been restored and remastered from the original elements. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range. It will also include Dolby Atmos sounds. The 2-disc release will be a “combo pack” also featuring its Blu-ray Disc counterpart. The release will also include a digital copy compatible with Movies Anywhere.

M3GAN 2.0 comes to 4K and Blu-ray in September

The 2025 sequel “M3GAN 2.0” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray on September 23rd via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. It will also arrive on 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured in the center above). Gerard Johnstone directed and co-wrote the film. It stars Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, Ivanna Sakhno, and Jemaine Clement. The home video releases will include both an UNRATED cut and the theatrical version.

The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-100 disc. Technical specifications for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio, accompanied by Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-50 disc. The 4K release will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. Both the 4K and Blu-ray releases will include a digital copy of the film compatible with Movies Anywhere.

Coal Miner’s Daughter comes to 4K in September

The 1980 film “Coal Miner’s Daughter” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 9th via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Michael Apted directed the movie, which won an Academy Award for “Best Actress in a Leading Role.” It starred Sissy Spacek, Tommy Lee Jones, Levon Helm, Beverly D’Angelo, and William Sanderson.

The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-66 disc. The 2-disc release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included, along with a digital copy compatible with Movies Anywhere.

You cannot yet find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder at Amazon or Walmart, but stay tuned for an update.
