Pixar movie Elio on 4K and Blu-ray in September

The 2025 Pixar animated film “Elio” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook and Blu-ray on September 9th via Disney. Adrian Molina, Domee Shi, and Madeline Sharafian co-directed this movie. It features the voice talents of Yonas Kibreab, Zoe Saldaña, Remy Edgerly, and Brad Garrett. It’s worth noting that this movie is “Certified Fresh” by critics and is “Verified Hot” by audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range, accompanied by Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-100 disc. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include 1080p HD video in 2.39:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless surround sound, on a BD-50 disc.

The 4K SteelBook and Blu-ray will each come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with the 4K getting its Blu-ray counterpart, and the Blu-ray getting its DVD counterpart. A digital copy will be included with each version, compatible with Movies Anywhere. You cannot yet find the 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook or Blu-ray available for preorder at Amazon or Walmart, but stay tuned for an update. The 2024 Japanese film “Ghost Killer” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray on September 23rd via Well Go USA. Kensuke Sonomura directed this movie. It stars Akari Takaishi, Mario Kuroba, and Masanori Mimoto. It’s certainly worth noting that, at the time of publishing, this film has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 20 critics’ reviews.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10. It also features Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 Dolby Atmos sound, with English subtitles. It stars David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Nicholas Hoult. The film also stars Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, María Gabriela de Faría, Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, Pruitt Taylor Vince, and Neva Howell. It’s certainly worth noting that the movie is “Certified Fresh” by critics and “Verified Hot” by audiences over at Rotten Tomatoes.

The classic 1974 TV series Little House on the Prairie: The Complete Series is coming to Blu-ray Disc on September 9th via Lionsgate. The show starred Michael Landon, Melissa Gilbert, Karen Grassle, Melissa Sue Anderson, and Sidney Greenbush.

NOTE: All nine seasons of the show have been previously released individually on the Blu-ray format. This will, however, mark the first time the entire series has been packaged together as one release.

The tech specs for the release span a 45-disc set and include 1080p HD video in a 1.33:1 aspect ratio, along with DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono sound. The Blu-ray Disc set is not yet available for preorder at Amazon, but there is a non-functional placeholder page. The Blu-ray is now available for preorder at GRUV and MovieZyng.

The Last Drive-In Double Feature Blu-ray in October

The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs will get a Double Feature Blu-ray Disc release on October 14th via Shudder. This double feature includes films, both directed by Joe Lynch. First off, you get “Suitable Flesh” (2023), and next you get “Mayhem” (2017). In between the films, you’ll get all of the footage that was shown during the Shudder streams of these episodes of the show. The Shudder original series stars John Bloom (a.k.a. “Joe Bob Briggs”) and Diana Prince (a.k.a. “Darcy the Mail Girl”). The show is currently in its seventh season. These two episodes aired during seasons 6 and 2, in order of the film’s titles.

The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in 1.78:1 and 2.35:1 aspect ratios with lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Stereo sound. The full runtime is 4 hours and 55 minutes, with extra time added to the movies for each, ensuring you get the show bits. Hopefully, we will see more of these home video releases of “The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs” soon from Shudder.
