Read moreThe 2025 film “Weapons” is set to be released on 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray later this year via Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment. Zach Cregger wrote and directed the film. It stars Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, Benedict Wong, Austin Abrams, Toby Huss, Alden Ehrenreich, and Amy Madigan. It is certainly worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” by critics and “Verified Hot” by audiences at Rotten Tomatoes.
The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio, accompanied by Dolby Vision and HDR10 (forms of high dynamic range), and Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound. Both the 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases will feature a digital copy of the movie, compatible with Movies Anywhere.

The 1965 musical “The Sound of Music“ is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 23rd via Disney. The movie is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. Robert Wise directed the film, which starred Julie Andrews, and Christopher Plummer. It co-starred Eleanor Parker, Richard Haydn, Peggy Wood, Charmian Carr, Heather Menzies, Nicholas Hammond, Duane Chase, Angela Cartwright, Debbie Turner, and Kym Karath.

Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.20:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless surround sound. A digital copy of the film will also be included.

The 1992 John Woo film “Hard Boiled“ is finally coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 4th via Hong Kong Cinema Classics / Shout! Studios. This will be spine number 17 in the HKCC line. John Woo directed and co-wrote the movie. It starred Chow Yun-Fat, Philip Chan, Teresa Sun-Kwan Mo, Phillip Chung-Fung Kwok, and Tony Leung Chiu-wai. It’s worth noting that this motion picture is “Certified Fresh” by critics’ reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
The movie has received a NEW 4K scan from the original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10, accompanied by Cantonese lossless DTS-HD Master Audio Mono sound with English subtitles. An English language dub in DTS-HD MA Mono will also be included. This “Deluxe Edition” release will come as a 3-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included, along with a bonus Blu-ray Disc for extras.
The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon. Also, you can preorder directly at Shout! Factory’s website, where you’ll get a free poster (while supplies last). The release will include a reversible sleeve and an exclusive 52-page booklet as physical extras. You can see these are pictured below.

The 1982 film “TRON“ and its sequel “TRON: Legacy“ (2010) are individually coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on September 16th via Disney. The first film [“TRON”] was directed and co-written by Steven Lisberger. It starred Jeff Bridges, Bruce Boxleitner, and David Warner. The second film [“TRON: Legacy”] was directed by Joseph Kosinski. It starred Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Bruce Boxleitner, and Michael Sheen.
The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray releases of each film include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.20:1 aspect (for the first film) and 2.35:1, shifting to a 1.78:1 aspect ratio (for IMAX footage of the second film), featuring Dolby Vision and HDR10, accompanied by Dolby Atmos sound. Each release will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. Also, a digital copy of each film will be included. Here is some information about the restoration and remastering, taken from the press release just issued by Disney.
“TRON was digitally scanned and carefully restored by The Walt Disney Film Restoration team, who corrected dirt, warping, and other imperfections to ensure pristine image quality. The work was supervised by director Steven Lisberger. TRON: Legacy has been remastered in High Dynamic Range from the original digital sources under the supervision of director Joseph Kosinski. Meticulously remastered, both films transport audiences back to the digital frontier with an experience more immersive, dynamic, and visually spectacular than ever before.”

The TRON 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook and the TRON: Legacy 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook have listings now available for preorder at Walmart. They’ve apparently sold out, but stay tuned for an update.
Here is a glimpse at some 3840 x 2160 (4K resolution) images that Disney has provided press. They were originally in TIFF format and around 45MB each in size. I have converted them to lossless PNG format, and they’re still as large as 20MB or so. So, be patient loading these. Enjoy!

The 1981 science fiction film “Outland” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray in a Limited Edition on November 4th via Arrow Video. Peter Hyams wrote and directed the movie. It starred Sean Connery, Peter Boyle, Frances Sternhagen, James Sikking, Kika Markham, and Clarke Peters.
This has received restoration from the original 35mm camera negative. The 4K UHD Blu-ray tech specs include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10, along with lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo sound.
The 4K UHD Blu-ray Limited Edition is now available for preorder at Amazon. Also, you can preorder it directly via Arrow Video’s website or via the MVD Shop. The limited edition set will include some physical extras (pictured and listed below).
The 2019 TV show “Creepshow” in its “Complete Series“ is set to arrive on Blu-ray Disc as a box set on November 11th via Shudder. The show ran for a total of four seasons with 26 episodes. Directors on the series included big names in horror such as Greg Nicotero, John Harrison, Joe Lynch, and Tom Savini.
The tech specs for the release include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.78:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound, spanning across a 9-disc set. The Blu-ray set is now available for preorder at Amazon. This set will include some physical extras and cool packaging (pictured below).
