Read moreThe 2005 film adaptation of the musical “Rent“ comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 18th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Chris Columbus directed the movie. It starred Rosario Dawson, Taye Diggs, Wilson Jermaine Heredia, Jesse L. Martin, Idina Menzel, Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp, and Tracie Thoms. The motion picture is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.40:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) high dynamic range, along with Dolby Atmos and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound. The release will come with a digital copy of the film compatible with Movies Anywhere.
UPDATED: The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon, GRUV, and Walmart. Yet, it is not yet available for preorder at Amazon, but stay tuned for an update on that. The bonus materials set to be included with the release are listed below.

It starred Emma Thompson, Anthony Hopkins, Vanessa Redgrave, and Helena Bonham Carter. The motion picture won a total of three Academy Awards (“Oscars”), including Best Actress in a Leading Role (Emma Thompson).
It has received a new 4K restoration from the original negative, overseen and approved by director James Ivory and cinematographer Tony Pierce-Roberts. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 high dynamic range and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound, on a BD-100 disc. This will come as a 2-disc set “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.
The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder on Amazon, as well as directly through Kino Lorber’s shop. The bonus materials set to be included on the release are listed below (sorted by disc).

The 1990 film “Awakenings“ is finally coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on December 9th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Penny Marshall directed the movie, which was nominated for 3 Academy Awards (“Oscars”). It starred Robert De Niro and the late Robin Williams. It co-starred John Heard, Julie Kavner, Penelope Ann Miller, and Max Von Sydow.
The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) high dynamic range, accompanied by Dolby Atmos, as well as lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0 surround sound. The release will include a digital copy compatible with Movies Anywhere.

The title is yet to officially be announced, but the release date is shown to be December 2nd, according to Amazon. Stay tuned for an official announcement from the studio later to get the final word on the exact release date. Paul Thomas Anderson wrote, produced, and directed the movie. It starred Mark Wahlberg, Heather Graham, Julianne Moore, Burt Reynolds, John C. Reilly, William H. Macy, Don Cheadle, Nicole Parker, and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman.
The tech specs for the 4K release(s) include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 high dynamic range and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound. No Dolby Vision will be included here. The 4K releases will each include a digital copy, compatible with Movies Anywhere.
The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon. The 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured in further detail below) is already “currently unavailable” (sold out) at Amazon. The Dolby Atmos mix appears to be reserved for digital release only at present, as no 4K release is planned; more on that later. The Blu-ray release will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with its DVD counterpart included, along with a digital copy, compatible with Movies Anywhere.

EDITORIAL NOTE: This movie has previously been released on the 4K UHD Blu-ray format as a part of what was called “ZAZ: The Collection!,” released back in 2024. That box set has since gone OOP (out of print) and goes for crazy prices. You can find the other two films in that set are each coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray individually. First, on November 4th, “The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!“ comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray. Then, on December 9th, “Top Secret!“ will also come to 4K UHD Blu-ray. Those titles are both now available for preorder at Amazon.
