John Carpenter’s “Halloween” 1978 on 4K UHD Blu-ray in September

MAJOR UPDATE:

This has now been officially confirmed today by HalloweenMovies.com (official website). The package cover art can be found above and disc art can be found below. It appears the release will get both Dolby Vision and HDR10 varieties of High Dynamic Range, while we only see a Dolby audio logo on the disc. That leaves me thinking it will not receive a Dolby Atmos or DTS: X atmospheric mix, and instead likely a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 or 7.1 mix.

UPDATES: This title is now available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon and Best Buy.

Below, after the break you can find the disc art and more of my original rumor post about this coming to 4K, which turned out to be true.

“Superman” Movie from 1978 is getting 4K restoration with a possible 4K release

Screen Shot 2018-07-23 at 4.20.58 PM

So, I’ve let this develop a bit more so it’s not even a “rumor” so much as it is, at this point, a very exciting fact. The original classic 1978 Richard Donner directed film Superman starring the late Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder is being restored currently at Warner in 4K. Not only are the visual elements of the original film negatives being remastered (restored) but also the sound mix (as of a 4 hours ago) has been confirmed to be getting remastered as well. All of of this wonderful news comes from the Twitter account of CapedWonder Superman Imagery. You’ll find their tweets below and all credits for photos go respectively to them. This could see a possible 4K UHD Blu-ray release later this year, it’s pretty much a given. There’s no way that Warner would just opt to release this only on 2K (Blu-ray Disc), when so much effort is being put into this 4K restoration. Also, did I mention that the film is celebrating its 40th anniversary of sorts this year? Yeah, that makes me think we could see it come to both 4K and Blu-ray later in the year. Stay tuned for more updates both here and on twitter. Below, after the break, you’ll find some select tweets from CapedWonder Superman Imagery on their twitter (as mentioned above).
