Commissions Earned

The 1950 film “Sunset Boulevard” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on August 5th via Paramount Home Media Distribution. This will mark the film’s 75th anniversary. The legendary Billy Wilder co-wrote and directed the movie. It starred William Holden, Gloria Swanson, Erich von Stroheim, Nancy Olson, Fred Clark, and Jack Webb. It’s worth noting that this film is still “Certified Fresh” by critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p Black & White video presentation in a 1.37:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range. It will feature lossless Dolby TrueHD 2.0 Mono sound. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital copy included. There is no information yet regarding the specifics of the bonus materials. However, you can likely expect legacy DVD & Blu-ray extras to be ported over.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon. Stay tuned for further details about this upcoming physical media release.

The 1954 film “Sabrina” will be released on 4K UHD Blu-ray on June 17th via KL Studio Classics. Billy Wilder directed and co-wrote the screenplay. The movie starred Humphrey BogartAudrey HepburnWilliam Holden, and Martha Hyer. It’s worth noting that this film won an Academy Award for best “costume design, black and white” by Edith Head. It’s also very noteworthy that this film (still to this day) is “Certified Fresh” by critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

Paramount Pictures gave this a brand new master, from a 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation, presumably in the original 1.75:1 aspect ratio, with Dolby Vision or HDR10. It will most likely include a lossless audio presentation from its original Mono source. Confirmation of aspect ratio, audio configuration, and format for this release has yet to be made. Stay tuned for an update. Lastly, it is known that it will be on a BD-100 disc.

The Omen Collection Deluxe Edition on Blu-ray

the_omen_collection_deluxe_edition_bluray_tilted

The Omen Collection [Deluxe Edition] is coming to Blu-ray Disc as a 5-disc set on October 15th via Scream Factory. This set features the five films “The Omen” (1976), “Damien: Omen II” (1978), “The Final Conflict” (1981), “Omen IV: The Awakening” (1991), and the remake “The Omen” (2006). There are no specific details yet regarding tech specs for the films but stay tuned for an update. It is however definitely worth noting that the first film in this set (“The Omen” original from 1976) will come with a new video transfer from a new 4K remaster. The other four films have not been said to have received new transfers, but they still could as details will be announced at a later point this year. That said, bonus materials are currently “in progress” so you will have to wait to hear what those are specifically, as well. You can now find the Blu-ray set available to pre-order over at Amazon as well as directly from Shout! Factory’s store (with an added bonus rolled lithograph for the first 666 customers).
