The 1980 film Somewhere in Time gets a 4K in February

The 1980 film “Somewhere in Time“ is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on February 10th via KL Studio Classics (Kino Lorber). Jeannot Szwarc directed the film, written by Richard Matheson. It starred Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour. It co-starred Christopher Plummer, Teresa Wright, George Voskovec, Bill Erwin, William H. Macy, Susan French, George Wendt, and John Alvin.
The movie has received a new 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) and lossless Mono sound, on a BD-100 disc. The release will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.
The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available to preorder at Amazon as well as directly via Kino Lorber. The bonus materials included with the release are listed below, sorted by disc.

The Running Man [2025] is coming to 4K in March

The 2025 film adaptation of “The Running Man” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook on March 3rd via Paramount. Edgar Wright co-wrote [the adaptation] and directed the film, based on the novel by Stephen King. It stars Glen Powell, Josh Brolin, Colman Domingo, and Lee Pace. It also co-stars William H. Macy, Michael Cera, Sean Hayes, Katy O’Brian, and Martin Herlihy.
The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound.
Each release will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included, along with a digital code (copy) of the movie. The 4K UHD Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook are each now available for preorder at Amazon.
EDITORIAL NOTE: In fact, there will not be an individual Blu-ray release for this film. If you want to own this on physical media, you have a choice to either buy the 4K combo pack and get the Blu-ray or settle for it on DVD.

The 1997 film Boogie Nights on 4K in December

The 1997 film “Boogie Nights” will arrive on 4K UHD Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook in early December via Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment, according to retailers. The title is yet to officially be announced, but the release date is shown to be December 2nd, according to Amazon. Stay tuned for an official announcement from the studio later to get the final word on the exact release date. Paul Thomas Anderson wrote, produced, and directed the movie. It starred Mark Wahlberg, Heather Graham, Julianne Moore, Burt Reynolds, John C. Reilly, William H. Macy, Don Cheadle, Nicole Parker, and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman.
The tech specs for the 4K release(s) include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 high dynamic range and lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound. No Dolby Vision will be included here. The 4K releases will each include a digital copy, compatible with Movies Anywhere.
The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon. The 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured in further detail below) is already “currently unavailable” (sold out) at Amazon. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes on 4K and Blu-ray

The 2024 action/adventure film “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on August 27th via 20th Century Studios (Disney). The movie, directed by Wes Ball, stars Owen Teague, Freya Allan, Kevin Durand, Peter Macon, and William H. Macy. The film will also receive a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below) on that same date.
All of the 4K releases will include the theatrical version (on 4K) and the “Inside the Lens: Raw Cut” (on a separate Blu-ray). The Blu-ray version will also receive the theatrical version as well as the UNRATED “Raw Cut” of the film, on the same disc.
The tech specs for the 4K release(s) include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-66 disc. The movie has received a new 4K scan from the original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range as well as DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound mixes, on a BD-100 disc.
