The movie has received a new 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) and lossless Mono sound, on a BD-100 disc. The release will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available to preorder at Amazon as well as directly via Kino Lorber. The bonus materials included with the release are listed below, sorted by disc.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound.

Each release will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included, along with a digital code (copy) of the movie. The 4K UHD Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook are each now available for preorder at Amazon.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes on 4K and Blu-ray

The 2024 action/adventure film “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on August 27th via 20th Century Studios (Disney). The movie, directed by Wes Ball, stars Owen Teague, Freya Allan, Kevin Durand, Peter Macon, and William H. Macy. The film will also receive a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below) on that same date.

All of the 4K releases will include the theatrical version (on 4K) and the “Inside the Lens: Raw Cut” (on a separate Blu-ray). The Blu-ray version will also receive the theatrical version as well as the UNRATED “Raw Cut” of the film, on the same disc.

The tech specs for the 4K release(s) include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound on a BD-66 disc. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless sound on a BD-50 disc. The Blu-ray disc containing the “Raw Cut” will also receive a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless sound on a BD-50 disc. The 1999 comedy “Mystery Men” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 22nd via KL Studio Classics.  The film, directed by Kinka Usher, starred Ben StillerJaneane Garofalo, William H. Macy, Kel Mitchell, Paul Reubens, Hank Azaria, Wes Studi, Greg Kinnear, and Geoffrey Rush.  

The movie has received a new 4K scan from the original camera negative.  The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range as well as DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo lossless sound mixes, on a BD-100 disc.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray included in the “combo pack” feature 1080p HD video in 1.85:1 aspect ratio [from the new 4K scan] as well as DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo sound mixes, on a BD-50 disc.
