2104 film The Boxtrolls comes to 4K in February

The 2014 Laika Studios stop-motion animated film “The Boxtrolls” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray in standard and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook limited edition forms on February 28th via Shout! Factory.  The film, co-directed by Graham Annable and Anthony Stacchi, featured the voice talents of Isaac Hempstead WrightBen Kingsley, Richard Ayoade, Nick Frost, Tracy Morgan, Jared Harris, and Toni Collette.

The movie has received a new 4K restoration.  Tech specs will include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and a new Dolby Atmos sound mix.  The 4K releases of the film in standard and SteelBook form will both come as a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.  The bonus materials set to be included with the releases are listed below.

Nightmare Alley comes to 4K and Blu-ray in March

The 2021 film “Nightmare Alley” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray on March 22nd via 20th Century Studios (Disney).  The film, directed and co-written by Guillermo del Toro, stars Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, Richard Jenkins, Rooney Mara, Ron Perlman, Mary Steenburgen, and David Strathairn.  It is certainly worth noting, at the time of writing, this film is “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless surround sound.  The 4K UHD Blu-ray will come in the form of a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart.  Both the 4K UHD Blu-ray and the Blu-ray releases will include a digital code (copy) of the film.

Krampus The Naughty Cut on 4K in December

The 2015 film Krampus will be getting a “Collector’s Edition” 4K UHD Blu-ray release featuring The Naughty Cut on December 7th, via Scream Factory (Shout! Factory). The film, directed and co-written by Michael Dougherty, starred Adam Scott, Toni Collette, Allison Tolman, Stefania LaVie Owen, Emjay Anthony, and David Koechner. Info regarding “The Naughty Cut” and how it differs from the theatrical cut of the film can be found in detail below.

“For the first time ever Michael’s Dougherty’s previously unseen “Naughty Cut” of the film will be seeing the light of day! This alternate version restores key dialogue and scenes that had to be trimmed from the original theatrical release to appease the MPAA. Supervised by filmmaker Michael Dougherty, this is the definitive version of the holiday cult classic!”

The tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio, presumably with HDR10 form of high dynamic range (although yet confirmed) with the audio configuration and format not detailed yet either as well. So, stay tuned for an update on that, as well as for when bonus materials are finalized and get announced. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that you’ll get the Blu-ray Disc (1080p HD) counterpart included. The film has received a great reaction from both critics and filmgoers, in fact, at the time of writing this, it carries a “Certified Fresh” rating over at Rotten Tomatoes. Ari Aster film “Hereditary” comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray in September

The 2018 Ari Aster film “Hereditary” starring Toni Collette is coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on September 4th via Lionsgate. The film is, at time of writing this, currently “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes. In fact it’s received quite some critical-acclaim so far.

UPDATE: Tech specs are as follows: The 4K UHD Blu-ray will receive full 2160p 4K video in the 2.00:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound, and both HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range. The Blu-ray will receive full 1080p HD video in the 2.00:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound. The Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray are both now available for PRE-ORDER.

2017 Alexandre Moors film “The Yellow Birds” is coming to Blu-ray in August

The 2017 Alexandre Moors directed war drama “The Yellow Birds” starring Tye Sheridan and Alden Ehrenreich is coming to Blu-ray Disc on August 14th via Lionsgate. Tech specs for the release include full 1080p HD video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound. The release will come with a Digital Copy of the film included. The Blu-ray is now available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon. The only bonus material set to be included is listed below.
