The Color Purple musical on 4K and Blu-ray in March

The 2023 musical remake of “The Color Purple” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on March 12th via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The film, produced by Oprah Winfrey, Quincy Jones, & Steven Spielberg, was directed by Blitz Bazawule and features a cast that includes Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, H.E.R., Halle Bailey, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Louis Gossett, Jr., David Alan Grier, Deon Cole, and Ciara. It’s certainly worth noting that this film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes

The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray release include a 1080p HD video presentation in the same aspect ratio and also Dolby Atmos sound.  Both releases will include a digital code (copy) of the film. “The Best of Enemies” comes to Blu-ray in July

The 2019 film The Best of Enemies starring Taraji P. Henson and Sam Rockwell is coming to Blu-ray Disc on July 2nd via Universal, according to an early alert to retailers. The film, directed by Robin Bissell, co-stars Babou Ceesay, Nick Searcy, Wes Bentley, and Anne Heche. Tech specs for the Blu-ray have not yet been detailed but you can very likely expect 1080p video and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound. Stay tuned for a confirmation on that. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a DVD and a digital copy of the film. You can find the Blu-ray now available for pre-order over at Amazon and Best Buy. The 2019 romantic comedy What Men Want starring Taraji P. Henson is coming to Blu-ray Disc on May 7th, via Paramount. The movie, directed by Adam Shankman, co-stars Aldis Hodge, Richard Roundtree, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Erykah Badu, Max Greenfield, Josh Brener, Pete Davidson, and Tracy Morgan. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include 1080p HD video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and lossless 5.1 audio (presumably in DTS-HD Master Audio). The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a DVD and digital copy of the film included. The Blu-ray is available to pre-order over at Amazon and Best Buy. Disney’s “Ralph Breaks The Internet” on 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray in February

The 2018 computer animated sequel “Ralph Breaks The Internet” is coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on February 26th, via Disney. The film features the voice talents of John C. ReillySarah SilvermanGal Gadot, Taraji P. Henson, Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch, Alan Tudyk, Alfred Molina, and Ed O’Neill.

Tech specs for the 4K include 2160p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with High Dynamic Range (likely in HDR10, although not specified) with Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray release include 1080p video in the 2.39:1 aspect with DTS-HD 7.1 Master Audio sound. Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray included, the Blu-ray getting a DVD included, and each getting a Digital Copy of the film.
