The 1981 film Outland comes to 4K in November

The 1981 science fiction film “Outland” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray in a Limited Edition on November 4th via Arrow Video. Peter Hyams wrote and directed the movie. It starred Sean Connery, Peter Boyle, Frances Sternhagen, James Sikking, Kika Markham, and Clarke Peters.

This has received restoration from the original 35mm camera negative. The 4K UHD Blu-ray tech specs include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10, along with lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo sound.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray Limited Edition is now available for preorder at Amazon. Also, you can preorder it directly via Arrow Video’s website or via the MVD Shop. The limited edition set will include some physical extras (pictured and listed below).

The 1975 film Barry Lyndon comes to 4K in July

The 1975 film “Barry Lyndon” will be released on 4K UHD Blu-ray on July 8th via The Criterion Collection. Stanley Kubrick directed the film. The movie starred Ryan O’Neal, Marisa Berenson, Patrick Magee, Hardy Krüger, and Steven Berkoff. It’s most certainly worth noting that this film is still (to this day) “Certified Fresh” by critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie has received a 4K restoration. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.66:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision or HDR10. It will also include an uncompressed LPCM Mono mix and a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound mix.. The 3-disc set will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart and an additional Blu-ray with extras.

The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for preorder at Amazon and Walmart. You can also preorder directly via Criterion’s website. The bonus materials included on this 4K release are listed below.

1984 film Beverly Hills Cop comes to 4K in December

The 1984 film Beverly Hills Cop starring Eddie Murphy is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on December 1st via Paramount. The film, directed by Martin Brest, co-starred Judge ReinholdJohn Ashton, Lisa Eilbacher, Ronny Cox, Steven Berkoff, James Russo, Jonathan Banks, Stephen Elliott, Gilbert R. Hill, Joel Bailey, Bronson Pinchot, and Paul Reiser. Tech specs for the release include a 2160p 4K presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range. No word yet on the audio format and configuration for the release, but I have put in an inquiry about it to the studio [Paramount] and should be updating you on that soon. In the meantime, it’s worth noting the film has been remastered in 4K as stated below in an official statement.

“This action-comedy classic has been remastered in 4K with HDR and will be available in a 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo with Digital copy and is available now on 4K Ultra HD Digital.”

The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will include its Blu-ray counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film. There’s not yet a preorder listing available for this 4K UHD Blu-ray over at Amazon, but they do have a placeholder page up you can sign up to be emailed and alerted as to when it is. First three “Rambo” films with Stallone come to 4K UHD Blu-ray in November

The three films First Blood (1982), Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), and Rambo III (1988) starring Sylvester Stallone are coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 13th via Lionsgate. Tech specs for the releases include 2160p 4K video in the original 2.35:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio on each release. They all will come in the form of a “combo pack” with a Blu-ray Disc and Digital Copy of the film(s) included. There is no sign of a box set planned, yet, or any indication the fourth film will be released on 4K anytime soon. All three films are now available to PRE-ORDER over at Amazon. Bonus materials set to be included on the releases are listed below, after the break, for each film individually. You can also find the cover art for the two other films there as well.
