RUMOR: 1989 Mary Lambert film “Pet Sematary” on 4K UHD Blu-ray in March
The original 1989 film adaptation of Stephen King‘s “Pet Sematary” it appears will be getting a “30th Anniversary Edition” 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc re-release on March 26th via Paramount, according to retail sources. The film’s director Mary Lambert has even confirmed this to me on Twitter, as you can see here. She has also even posted a look at what the HDR (high dynamic range) pass on the encode looks like in a photo from one of the monitors that you can see below.

The film featured a cast of Dale Midkiff, Denise Crosby, Fred Gwynne, Brad Greenquist, Miko Hughes, Blaze Berdahl, and Susan Blommaert. Neither the 4K or Blu-ray re-release have not yet officially been announced by the studio (Paramount), and I’ve yet to get them to confirm it. So, that’s why I’m wording this as “rumor” at this point, despite the director telling me it is indeed coming soon and likely on the date I’ve mentioned. That said, there is no info yet regarding the exact tech specs for the 4K release aside from that it will come with HDR (High Dynamic Range) although we don’t know which format(s) it will be in, nor the sound format. There’s also no info regarding the bonus materials that will be included on the 4K and on the Blu-ray re-release, but stay tuned for once the studio finally announces this title. In the meantime, you can find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for pre-order at retailers Amazon and Best Buy. The Blu-ray re-release is also available for pre-order over at Amazon and Best Buy.
UPDATE: There’s now an exclusive Steelbook for the 4K release coming from retailer Best Buy, which carries the same release date (3/26). It can be pre-ordered now at this page. The art can be seen below.

Stephen King stories turned film on Blu-ray get Steelbooks at Best Buy in October

Retailer Best Buy has three Exclusive Steelbooks on Blu-ray Disc planned for movies based on Stephen King stories. The TV mini-series “It“ (1990), TV movie “Salem’s Lot“ (1979), and film “The Shining“ (1980) will get Steelbook treatment on October 2nd via Warner. The titles are all available for PRE-ORDER over at Best Buy priced at just $12.99 each. Their art can be seen above and below, but the full-size art hasn’t appeared yet on the web side, just on the mobile app side.
These are all three re-releases already available on the Blu-ray Disc format. No new transfers or bonus materials will be found on the new Steelbooks. It’s my guess that these are just being repackaged, likely in a marketing tie-in, to go with the currently available Warner produced Hulu series “Castle Rock“ – based on Stephen King stories.
