The 1963 film Charade on 4K from Criterion in June

The 1963 romantic comedy/mystery “Charade” will get a 4K UHD Blu-ray release on June 2nd via The Criterion Collection.

Stanley Donen directed the movie. It starred Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn, Walter Matthau, James Coburn, and George Kennedy.

The movie has received a new 4K digital restoration. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with SDR (standard dynamic range) and uncompressed LPCM Mono sound. This release is a 2-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included.

NOTE: HDR (high dynamic range) will NOT be included with this release. This is not uncommon for some Criterion 4K releases.

1952 musical Singin’ in the Rain comes to 4K in April

To celebrate its 70th anniversary, the 1952 classic musical “Singin’ in the Rain“ is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray officially on April 26th via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.  The film, which was co-directed by Stanley Donen & Gene Kelly, starred Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor, Debbie Reynolds, Jean Hagen, Millard Mitchel, and Cyd Charisse.

UPDATE:  The tech specs include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.37:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range.  The audio here includes a remastered DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio lossless surround mix and a restored Mono DTS-HD 2.0 Master Audio lossless mix.

The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning it will include its Blu-ray Disc counterpart.  A digital code (copy) of the film will be included.  Also, there’s not yet a 4K UHD Blu-ray preorder listing available over at Amazon, so stay tuned for an update on that soon.

“Arabesque” with Gregory Peck comes to Blu-ray in June

The 1966 film “Arabesque“ starring Gregory Peck and Sophia Loren is set to be coming to Blu-ray Disc on June 4th via Universal, according to an early alert to retailers. The film, directed by Stanley Donen, co-stars Alan Badel, Kieron Moore, and Carl Duering. The tech specs and bonus materials (if any) for the release have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for a later update. The Blu-ray is now available to pre-order over at Amazon.
