The 2024 film Abigail is coming to 4K in July

The 2024 film “Abigail“ will be released on 4K UHD Blu-ray on July 8th via Scream Factory. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett co-directed the film. It stars Melissa Barrera, Dan Stevens, Kathryn Newton, Will Catlett, and Giancarlo Esposito. It is certainly worth noting that this movie is “Certified Fresh” by critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
This has received a new 4K presentation from the original elements. The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision or HDR10 form of high dynamic range. There will be Dolby Atmos, as well as lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo sound. The 4K release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart, featuring the new 4K source material.

Battle Beyond the Stars comes to 4K in July

The 1980 Sci-Fi cult classic “Battle Beyond the Stars“ arrives on 4K UHD Blu-ray on July 15th via Scream Factory. Jimmy T. Murakami and Roger Corman directed the film. Corman did not originally take credit for co-directing, but did take executive producer credit. The movie starred Richard Thomas, Robert Vaughn, John Saxon, George Peppard, Sybil Danning, and Darlanne Fluegel.
The movie has received a new 4K scan of the original camera negative. The tech specs include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision or HDR10 form of high dynamic range. It will consist of lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo sound. The release will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included, featuring the new 4K scan.

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective comes to 4K in July

The 1994 film Ace Ventura: Pet Detective comes July 29th to 4K UHD Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook. These releases will be part of Shout! Studios‘ Shout Select line. Tom Shadyac directed the movie, which starred Jim Carrey. It also starred Courteney Cox, Sean Young, Tone Loc, Dan Marino, and Noble Willingham.
The movie has received a new 4K transfer from the 35mm original camera negative. The technical specifications include a 2160p 4K video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision or HDR10 form of high dynamic range. It will also include lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 Stereo sound. Both 4K releases will come as a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray Disc counterpart included (featuring the new 4K transfer).

The Jet Li Collection is coming to 4K in late July

“The Jet Li Collection” comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray on July 29th via Hong Kong Cinema Classics, presented by Shout! Studios. The box set will feature 5 different films starring martial artist/actor Jet Li. Those films include:
- “Fist of Legend” (1994) directed by Gordon Chan
- “Tai Chi Master” (1993) directed by Yuen Woo-Ping
- “Fong Sai Yuk” (1993) directed by Corey Yuen
- “Fong Sai Yuk II” (1993) directed by Corey Yuen
- “The Bodyguard from Beijing” (1994) directed by Corey Yuen
The five movies have all been scanned in 4K and feature matching tech specs. These include a 4K video presentation (for each) in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision or HDR10 form of high dynamic range. The audio (for each) will include the original Cantonese in lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono, featuring English subtitles. This 10-disc set will come as a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterparts included for each film.

The 2005 film “Strangers with Candy: The Movie” comes to Blu-ray Disc on July 22nd via Shout Select (Shout! Studios). Paul Dinello directed and co-wrote the movie. It starred Amy Sedaris, Stephen Colbert, Paul Dinello, Deborah Rush, Ian Holm, Joseph Cross, and Carlo Alban. The cast even included Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick, Chris Pratt, and the late great Philip Seymour Hoffman. The movie, based on the 1999 TV series “Strangers with Candy,” is celebrating its 20th anniversary. This will be spine number #196 in the Shout Select series.
The movie has been newly restored with a new 4K transfer from the 35mm interpositive. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo lossless sound.

The 2000 film “Bring It On“ will come to 4K UHD Blu-ray on June 24th via Shout Select (Shout! Studios). Peyton Reed directed this movie, which starred Kirsten Dunst, Gabrielle Union, and Eliza Dushku. Additionally, it co-starred Jesse Bradford, Clare Kramer, Nicole Bilderback, Tsianina Joelson, and Rini Bell. It’s worth noting that this film is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
