Black Phone 2 comes to 4K and Blu-ray in December

According to retailers, the 2025 film “Black Phone 2” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray on December 23rd via Universal Studios Home Entertainment. The Blumhouse-produced sequel was co-written and directed by Scott Derrickson, originally based on a short story by Joe Hill. It stars Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies, Demián Bichir, and Miguel Mora. It’s worth noting that this movie is “Certified Fresh” based on the critics’ reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) and Dolby Atmos sound. The Blu-ray tech specs include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Atmos sound. Both releases will come as a “Collector’s Edition” with the 4K as a 2-disc “combo pack” including its Blu-ray Disc counterpart. Each release will come with a digital code (copy) compatible with Movies Anywhere.

There will be a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below) exclusively available at Walmart, which is now available for preorder.

Doctor Strange on 4K UHD Blu-ray in October

The 2016 Marvel Studios film Doctor Strange starring Benedict Cumberbatch sure seems to be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on October 1st via Marvel (Disney), according to multiple retailer listings. The film, part of the “Marvel Cinematic Universe” and directed by Scott Derrickson, co-starred Chiwetel EjioforRachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Mads Mikkelsen, and Tilda Swinton. Tech specs for the 4K release include 2160p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the Blu-ray and a digital code (copy) of the film included. The 4K UHD Blu-ray is now available for pre-order over at Amazon. Retailer Best Buy will be getting a 4K Exclusive Steelbook release of the film (pictured below) which is available for pre-order as well.

The bonus materials set to be included on the release will be identical to those found on the previous Blu-ray, as they actually use that disc for the extras. No new extras will be included on this 4K release.
